Thanks a lot for this very helpful document. I shall use these roads (35, 735 and F347) in the end of June and I am comforted to have made these roads the first time with your video.

I'm probably going to embarrass my self here. I seem to have this memory from the 70's, when I met with fellow wanderers from Iceland. They told a story about a road being built and diverted around a rock owing to the fact that they believed a spirit/troll lived there. Whereas it would have been easier to move the said rock to one side. Has my memory in old age played me up? What ever, I enjoy riding with you on these journeys, just wish I had visited your country when I was younger. Keep posting.

There are plenty of such roads, rocks, elves and stories in Iceland!

When was the change?

Sadly, I don't know the answer to that question. I tried to look it up on the internet, but didn't find it out.

And, it's not a "mountain road" anymore, but it's still forbidden to regular, non 4x4 rental cars!

wow, I did not know that non 4x4 rental cars are banned on this road, but in a way I guess it makes sense, it still needs to be handled as a Highland route. :)
