You'd be surprised. Pretty much the majority of stars/wrestlers during the Attitude Era were all popping pills and what not at that time. Hard to really drop it, but it's much less common now with this current wrestling roster.

What a great honest offering Road Dogg gives us here. I love the fact that he says"Yeah, it was me that screwed it up". -And like Billy says, it's a lot easier to blame everyone else and everything else for your problems and downfalls, but these guys are stepping up here and taking it on the chin. I applaud that and it's as admirable as it gets. I hope these two continue to stay clean and focused and find success again.

Drugs or no drugs these guys were my childhood heroes. We didn't know what was going on until he was let go at one point. Whatever was working for him at the time, they were an unreal team! If he was sent to rehab multiple times, the WWE obviously had high hopes for him. Glad to hear he's sober and amazing today.

This past Monday WWE had Christian and Edge as special RAW hosts........and it sucked louder than any wrestling program has ever sucked before. There was no pop when they came out, the crowd was bored when they were speaking and there was no pop when Cena did a run in to save them from Brock. The whole thing was uncomfortable and embarrassing. Since Vince has no competition, pro wrestling has become stale and is heading down......quick.

+kevin baker Pro wrestling is awful nowdays.. legends get no pop or little pop an it's embarrassing. Haven't watched WWE consistently since Edge retired. John Cena is stale. He is the face of the company and he's currently US Champion.... would that ever happen to Triple H, The Rock, Stone Cold etc.? Heck no No championship matters except WWE championship so you can count on 1 hand how many superstars exist There really aren't any modern superstars to be honest. Attitude Era Mid-Cards are better than today's main event wrestlers Monday Raw/ Thursday Smackdown back in the day is 1000X better than every modern PPV combined Remember how awesome tag teams were? Hardcore championships? Steve Blackman X Ken Shamrock? Remember when divas were more than girlfriends/escorts/managers? All the hilarious backstage skits? Matches are boring No storylines or they suck (The Authority= rehashed Corporation storyline) Jim freaking Ross This freaking PG Era But yeah, WWE is pure garbage now.

I was gonna reply to the half decade old comments below saying "I never knew!". ReWatching 98 & 99 WWF and knowing about Mr. Dogg's drug abuse (and being an adult not a 12 year old) It was just clear as day how high he was. It seems to have happened about 1/4 way through their 1st/main big run. He'd be on the mic just LiT. Think of how obvious it was when Sunny was really pilled up towards the end - Almost as bad.

Gabriel Guzman It's bickered about a lot, though 97 is a favourite starting year, WM17 in 2001 often considered its finale. There are multiple moments that people claim to be the revolutionary beginning. Austin's "3:16" speech at King of the Ring. The Montreal Screwjob. Even as far back as the MSG 'Curtain Call' in 1996, due to the big shake up of the roster, and the start of some real fourth wall breaking.

That s true. Always rooted for Road dogg. He could ve been up there on the edge jericho kurt angle level of being a legend. He s top 5 mic hof. his finisher was mediocre could ve gone with the piledriver. But his move set was memorable and cool. worked long hardcore matches. His look with the different cool shirts every night knee pads arm band and caps always looked bad ass and were popular back then and would ve sold even more if he became a regular headliner. Them coming back and winning titles in wwe again was more than i could ve hoped for the outlaws since i thought they burned bridges. Same with the hardys after the drugs and matt online suicide stupid shit.

the waterboy quote was gold, he should’ve held the ic title in attitude era for while with those mic skills. him and jericho would’ve been a great feud from promo standpoint

Billy Gunn always had to carry Road Dogg in the ring..there's a reason Gunn was actually successful and watchable in singles while Road Dogg was a natural tag team partner. Funniest thing about this is they made fun of HHH and Vince in TNA yet Road Dogg has tried to denounce any bad coming out about HHH and the CM Punk issue. These guys getting their recent title reign was nostalgic, but undeserving/unnecessary.

Na Billy never carried anyone. They both work best as a tag team. And their last run in the WWE was definitely deserving and....fun. Unless you'd rather watch the Uso's and the Rhodes brothers for the 11 millionth time.

I would agree that Billy Gunn was the more talented wrestler of the 2. But Road Dogg was great on the mic and carried them in promos.

I certainly respect Armstrong's candor about his problems,I fucked up a lot in my 20's and 30's (and like an asteroid strike,I will unfortunately fuck-up again, such is the way of things) so I know how he feels (lots and lots of self-loathing) That said,I really do not see how his career could have gone higher then it did.Although I have always found his persona, and the whole dx thing to be noisome,he did have better then average charisma and was a competent grappler. But he never had 'Superstar' written on him.His brother Brad reached for the top and fell like Icarus, and Brad was charismatic, had a enviable physique, was a better wrestler then Brian. Not trying to attack the Man,just saying Brad was kinda destined to be the main star of the family and yet he faded.
