Agate losing her trait because of the betrayal of her sibling is one of the best retcons I have ever seen. It makes way more sense than her just getting salty because she lost. It also adds some shades of grey to the situation. On top of that it puts into perspective how powerful determination is if Agate only agreed to fight because she thought that the duel was rigged.

I’m not sure if I’d call this a retcon, as the starting prompt said humiliation still played a role. It’s more of an addition/add on to the current lore. That said, I definitely agree it helps make Agate a better character and makes her reaction more understandable.

Agathe brought this to herself, she challenged him and he accepted, but at the last second told him to make her win because keeping the monsters underground was the best for the moment, so humiliation would fall into copper instead, it just shows that Agathe was always a COWARD and always had FEAR within her .

It was sort of Copper's fault too because he knew that doing something like that would really hurt her mentally, yet he betrayed her. She isn't a coward and I don't think she always had fear within her, she wanted Copper to fear her after the fight so she created the fear soul.

This is kinda directly related to Undertale as Copper and Agate have red and orange souls and they're based on two humans seen in the story intro of Undertale (the one wielding a sword and the one wielding a staff and using it to create the barrier)... You said yourself that they're BASED on two of the humans seen in the intro segment of Undertale. This does not mean Copper and Agate exist in Undertale. Their SOULS are not explicitly seen, only their magical attacks, something that exists once again, only in Glitchtale. Don't get me wrong, it's IMPLIED that humans could use magic during ages long ago, but Undertale doesn't provide proof of Copper and Agate's existence, as well as whether or not they could cast magic. Lastly, Camila Cuevas is NOT Toby Fox. None of the events in Glitchtale are canonical to Undertale whatsoever. Certain characters exist within both universes, such as Sans, Frisk, Asriel, Chara, etc, but others are shrouded in mystery, such as Gaster. Gaster is an entity referenced in Undertale, but elaborated upon in Glitchtale. Just because Gaster uses hands to cast magic in Glitchtale doesn't mean he can do that in Undertale. In fact, one of the fan interpreations of Gaster, Spr_mysteryman's only interation has highly specific requirements, and even then, the interaction shows the mysteryman's sprite changing and disappearing. Back to Copper and Agate; they may look like the humans seen in the introduction of Undertale, and it's likely that in Glitchtale they ARE those people, but that doesn't mean Copper and Agate are the same in Undertale. Like Spr_mysteryman, who people interpret as Gaster, the humans seen in the introduction of Undertale do not cast magic. and to REALLY back my point, even if the SOULS of Agate and Copper were visible in this speedpaint, which they aren't, that doesn't mean they could cast the same magic in Undertale. Okay, I'm done, or am I? In my comment, I said something that isn't *DIRECTLY* related to Undertale. Of course there are going to be indirect connections which I can't explain away with ease, if at all. The indirect connections being of course, Agate and Copper, and the humans in the Intro segment. It took me a while to prove that they may be Copper and Agate in Glitchtale history, but not in Undertale. TL;DR: Agate and Copper do not exist in Undertale, their SOULs are not visible in this speedpaint, Camila and Toby are different people, Gaster is a fan interpretation of a sprite, and I said in my original comment "Not Directly related to Undertale", which means there are going to be indirect relations to Undertale and Glitchtale in the speedpaint.

Agate Lightvale was a Brave Soul, 🧡 however her Bravery was best focused in the realm of the material not the immaterial. It was that flaw that Copper failed to see… Only after his victory was pronounced and his vision for peace between Humans and Monsters was within his grasp did he feel the shame of what he had lost, his only family, his only sister. When she returned he vowed to make amends, to do whatever it took to make sure she would never leave his side again… But by then it was too late… 💓

So Copper broke his word, humiliated his sister and knowingly broke her trust in him Just so he could have a "I'll prove I'm right" moment that didnt even come in the end Really shows that even if you are the most determined person on the planet doesnt mean you are infallible and you are able to make mistakes and bad choices By going along with his decision he demonstrated that he didnt know his sister nearly well enough to predict how she would react to such a loss and humiliation Which is a bit weird given that they are both twin siblings additionally and spent a lot of family time together raising Amber

Agate was lied to, she thought she was going in this fight with the ability to win, to keep harmony, to keep people safe from the monsters. But her brother just immediately one upped her because he wanted to drive the point that his determination knows no bounds, BOTH ARE BAD. If he didn't lie, Agate wouldn't have ran away in attempts to find something to come and beat him with. Agate harbored so much hatred towards him, and this retcon makes it make more sense. Its better than what it originally was thought to be, that Agate was just excessively salty, but she had a reason to now. She was betrayed by someone she thought was going to upkeep their promise, and ruined her whole life as a ruler/wizard. Her way of getting payback IS DEFINITELY WRONG. But it feels..more organic.

I really like this change. It makes a lot more sense that Agate would be more tempted to do what she did because of the betrayal rather than just losing the battle. On the flip side, what Copper did makes total sense too. Being a red soul, I could totally see him doing whatever it takes to win, especially in a crucial situation like this where he’s fighting for what he believes in. He probably didn’t even enjoy betraying his sister, but just saw it as a necessary evil for the sake of what he believed was the greater good. It makes the cause and effect of the situation feel so much more natural and I love it! Also Copper looks lowkey scary here which really represents how raw determination can be scary sometimes. We’ve certainly seen that before in this series. Even though Frisk increased his LV to try to kill Betty, which he believed was the greater good, he made a dark and risky decision to do so and looked scary as fuck in the process.

For me the "deal" between copper and agate is obviously a retcon since it was never mentioned in the two tragedy text and in the glitchtale origins who described the event of the battles but it pose another problem, why Agate has even asked to battle Copper if she knew she were going to lose? The point of that battle was to show the arrogance of agate who thought she could have beat her brother and don't tell something like "she realised she were going to lose so she ask her brother to lose the duel" she know and live with her brothers for two decades and she has even fight in a wars with him, she know exactly how powerful he is so I don't understand her choice. I think this retcon is here to show that copper has betrayed Agate and that Agate has good intention but again this is totally subverted when we know that she has killed Amber who did nothing and her brother who just tell a lie and was also in his right to win the duel, in fact it also proves again that Agate is stupid and pathetic since she was the one who proposed a duel she knew she were going to lose but pathetically beg to her opponents to win the fight by trying to switch side Copper.
