I adore the decision to make Dalton an actual psychopath 😂, and i love that Knox seems to sense it in a way. That's what i think the "there's something wrong with you" moment means.
@Eshayladdayones7 ай бұрын
Dalton is the complete opposite of a psychopath.
@darmaster887 ай бұрын
He's not a psychopath though, psychopaths take pleasure in harming others and causing trouble. He just has anger issues
@MH3Raiser5 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's more like Dalton has self imposed limits because he's distraught over killing a friend. But that also shows that without those rules... he's an animal. So focused on survival and winning he'd kill a friend in a frenzy. The main difference between Knox and Dalton isn't self awareness, it's guilt for the consequences of their actions. They're both perfectly willing and able to kill other people, but Dalton is very aware that letting that side of him run rampant just causes pain for the people he cares about. Knox just cares about himself, so it's a moot point: he has no limits. It's why Dalton apologizes to Ellie after killing Knox despite all he's done. In his eyes, he hasn't moved forwards even one step: he's gone backwards into the killing frenzy. Thats why Charlie's last line is so important. Sure, we can see Dalton as the hero: he saved the Road House, rescued Ellie and gave Brant's ill gotten gains to Charlie and Steven. But he's also killed 6 people, which is ironically more than we see Knox kill for the entire film. So he's a hero, but one that carries the weight of his own shame to protect others. Gyllenhaal has confirmed he's returning to play Dalton in a sequel, so hopefully we'll get to see the conclusion of thar arc there.
@X-Reload-XАй бұрын
If he was a psychopath he would’ve not taken those guys to hospital or cared about hurting people, he just has a breaking point of anger, him and his roadhouse friends got fucked with too much and after too much he lost his cool and his character once u cross it that line seeing red and no holds barred will happen
@codyt8217 ай бұрын
The plot of Roadhouse couldn't be less simple guys, c'mon. Bad guy has the town under his thumb, wants the road house for the property so he can tear it down and build a resort, Dalton comes to town to stop said bad guy and his goons from taking over the Roadhouse. I feel a connection with the music in the original cause we have the friendship between Dalton and the leader of the band which for me deepened the connection with the music in the film making it a more intimate part of the story. the thing with Conor is people who start as actors normally work their way up to big movies and you hardly see their early work whereas celebrities from other fields who move over to acting have their early work out there for all to see. look at Arnie (bodybuilder) as you said, early Rock (wrestler)movies or Vinnie Jones (soccer player) in lock stock, gone in 60 seconds and his iconic role as juggernaut. now they are all reasonably good actors.

Dad died in a stupid bar fight and Jack choose to go throught the MMA road. So, being offered to be a "bouncer" for the Road House would have make is life full circle, taking the mantle of his father in the end. Such a good film and it has similarities to the original 1989 film. You really have that Silent Warrior type character with few words similar to Patrick Swayze's Dalton and the mysterious past to Dalton what really happened which we get to see while the original film you see Dalton talk about it with Wade Garrett not showing what really happened. With Knox he has that similar personality to Marshall Teague's character but Knox is more unhinged by making the character little different. Funny thing is the original film had a direct to video sequel called "Road House 2: Last Call" which is a forgettable film that doesn't get talked about and Patrick Swayze was asked to reprise the role but opted not to return for not liking the script and his character gets killed off with a weird flashback of sorts.

Trust me, the fight scene with the bikers. A hard slap can hurt significantly more than a hard punch. It is a different type of pain. I'm not saying punches are not painful but slaps can be absolutely brutal if you put force behind it. You see those slap tournaments they do and the damage you can do to someones face with just a couple of slaps is insane. The originsl roadhouse is essentially 2 distinct films. Everything with Swayze, Kelly Lynch, the bar, and Sam Elliot is Dirty Dancing, then every cutaway to the villians is a bad episode of Dukes of Hazzard. At points it feels like they filmed and wrote an entire Dirty Dancing style film about a "cooler" then added the other parts afterwards in reshoots to make it more of an 80s action film. Seeing as one of the writers only other credit is the awful Steven Seagal movie Out for Justice, I'm pretty sure that's actually what happened.

I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy this movie as much as I did and now I'm getting up the consideration to get back into martial arts training. I can't believe how much better this movie gets with each viewing. I loved Patrick Swayze's original and I never thought it could be remade. Talking about Jake's bulging abs i think its partly because of the writers strike. When you look at the pics from the UFC press conference his abs weren't protruding so much. He said in an interview he had to stay in that shape for way longer than planned because filming stopped and he had no idea when it would start again so Jake continued to work out and eventually he got steroid bloat 😅
