Su was dividing the crowd at the beginning to make a “wall of death” so they would run at each other .. it’s a common feature of a mosh pit .. along with a “circle pit” which they mention in the song “The One”

This venue was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) with a sold out crowd of over 20,000. Guitarists that night were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus. The bassist was BOH, and the drummer Hideki Aoyama. BABYMETAL's lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto first appeared at SSA in 2008 as a member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old. She's been back many times since, usually headlining with BABYMETAL, although they also opened for 'Guns 'n' Roses a few years ago. Every BABYMETAL song is different. There are a lot of great songs to follow up with. 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' is more of a rocker. What both of you witnessed was Queen Su's steely commanding gaze parting the crowd for a mosh pit and her powerful angelic voice, Princess Moa and Princess Yui's energy and the mighty Kami band brutality of their awesome musicianship. This is one of those videos that show how much control the ladies have over a crowd. This was recorded in 2015, when Su was 17 and Yui and Moa were 15, in front of a 20000 strong crowd. Another reactor said that BabyMetal were a gimmick, and would go away soon... They are now into their 11th year, have toured, collaborated and played with some huge names in Rock and Metal and have sell out crowds across the world, with a massive fan base. Not bad for a gimmick eh. To think that when they started in BabyMetal in 2010, Su was 12/13 years old, and Yui and Moa were 10/11. To think how far this journey has taken them, to where they are now is incredible. Su has even been crucified 4 times lol. To get an appreciation of the early days, I would look at Megitsune or Doki Doki Morning, as they were a couple of their earliest tracks. For shock value, check BabyMetal Death, at Legend 1997 concert, or more recent tracks like BxMxC for a rap battle :). Keep up the good work and welcome to the Fox Hole #notacult

Nice video! If you know the power metal band DragonForce, their guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman wrote and recorded the guitars for the studio version of this song. The girls were about 17 and 15 in this video. This was their last song from their 90 minute concert and they're going full throttle since the first song in their setlist (Megitsune) so you'll notice how much sweat they break throughout the video. This wqs performed at Saitama Super Arena in Japan in 2015 with the capacity of 22,000 people. The largest crowd they performed in was at their sold out 2 Day performance in Tokyo Dome in 2016 with 55,000 seating capacity. Just like what I mentioned, it's a sold out 2 Day concert so they performed in front of 110,000 people while in their age of 18 and 16. You gotta love how much stamina the drummer has. The drummer was Hideki Aoyama. He's known for his consistency in his double bass drums. He also exerts certain force to make some deeper, more powerful bass sound. The guitarists are Leda Cygnus [real name is Shinji Yuuto] (black guitar) and Takayoshi Ohmura (pink guitar). Leda was known for his fast left fingers while shredding. Ohmura was known for his unique and iconic picking technique which gives a unique sound and speed to his shredding. The bassist was BOH [real name is Bote Daisuke] (6 string bass). He was known for his unique tapping technique which makes him really different from other bassists and you could easily recognize the tuning of his bass. The name of their band is the Kami Band. The other members who didn't play here are Mikio Fujioka (guitar) and Isao Fujita (guitar). If you want to see and hear them shine, I recommend you BABYMETAL - Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of Gods Intro Live at Budokan Black Night. Unlike Road of Resistance and Karate, this is one of Su(the one in the middle)'s solos and Yui and Moa (the two girls in the side) are having a few minutes of break from dancing with full energy. The two also have songs together to give Su a break. The duo of them are called Black Babymetal. Kitsunes up!

And you are right again, there is room for higher ratings IMO :) Another cool thing regarding Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce is the fact they wrote the guitar arrangements so fast and crazy thinking that they would never have to play it live... they were wrong, of course! If you search with keywords "babymetal Glasgow 2020" you will find videos showing 2,000 people going nuts at Barrowland Ballroom on Feb. 19, 2020. And the Scottish audiences are doing the same thing (Shouts, Chants and C & R) to this song. BTW, BABYMETAL's 10 concerts are ongoing at Budokan, a legendry arena in Tokyo, to commemorate their 10th anniversary taking very strict countermeasures against the infection. They held 1st and 2nd shows on Jan.19 / 20. I witnessed those shows at the venue and almost died for joy.

ROAD OF RESISTANCE actually won Loudwire's Best Metal Song of 2015. BABYMETAL also won Best Live Act and Most Devoted Fan (based mainly in Japan) from the same org in the same year. This is a video live performance of Road of Resistance from World Tour 2015 in Yokohama Japan. I'd argue that all Babymetal live performances since 2012/2013 are sung live, with backtracks added a small portion of a song (e.g. the growls are pre-recorded). Suggetions? I wouldn’t say they are not worshipped by their Western crowds. The main difference is the size, in Japan they are regularly playing for crowds between 10.000 and 20.000 (55.000 at Tokyo Dome), while in the West it’s usually more around 2000-3000 (with the exception of festivals, but those are not pure BABYMETAL crowds, of course). But there‘s also the Japanese sense of community and thoroughness that leads to a more consolidated feedback. And I think incorporating the audience (called ainote) is more common in J-Pop in general. To me it’s not their best song, but as a performance there‘s not much room for improvement. As a fan you can only dream of being part of something like this.

I guess it is like learning how to ski. At 1rst it seems you are going too fast to enjoy it. Then your senses speed up to keep pace with the sensory input. Soon you begin to pick up more and more. It becomes easier and easier to listen faster and faster. I like more genres than heavy metal but good metal is a requirement to my happiness. Fast for the sake of fast is not my cup of tea, but fast and melodic and fast and interesting is never too fast.

Not a bad performance by 3 High School students, huh? They were the first Japanese to play Wembley Arena (sold-out) and broke all the records for band merchandise sold. Their international breakout was in the UK at the 2014 Sonisphere festival. Their physical conditioning is at the Olympic athletic level. Typical major concert is about 80 to 90 minutes. The guitar lines were created by Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragon Force.

Great reaction... That's called a "Wall of Death", but at BABYMETAL shows it's fairly peaceful. This video usually shocks people because, before this they think of BABYMETAL as this cute small musical outfit, but the sheer scale is just overwhelming (and they've done shows far bigger than this one). Their popularity is the result of music that's just awesome, plus a ton of talent and hard work. The song is about pushing forward against adversity, related to their path against the part of the Metal Community (both in Japan and in the West) that initially were highly critical in rejecting BABYMETAL. They kept pushing and persevering, and in the process became the biggest Metal band in Japan and a force to be reckoned with in the US and Europe (they have headlined arena shows in the US, the UK and Russia). Too bad you had to chop down the video a bit, but I'm glad that you enjoyed.

BABYMETAL 101 Babymetal is a Japanese group Founded in 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal). The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (23 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka Moa-Metal (21 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a rotating trio of girls filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. These girls are known as Avengers and are Kano Fujihara (16 years old), Riho Sayashi (21 years old) ((Riho most likely is not an avenger anymore)), and Momoko Okazaki (17 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost. Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH spelled i i n e) Headbangya Babymetal Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moa-Meta, and Yui-Metal, Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Rondo of Nightmare - With mischief of the Gods Intro (Su Solo and a great expedition of the Kami Band) Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (Name means No More Bullying Forever) Karate The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. A lot of fan speculation, end of story) Metal Galaxy Era The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert was well worth it. COVID Era COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger. All shows they have done in 2020 and in 2021 have had Momoko as the Avenger. BabyMetal was built around Su-metal, actually the original idea of BabyMetal has something to do with Su-metal. Music producer Kobametal once was the audience of a pop girl group show and he recognized Suzuka Nakamoto (10 year old at that time) has a voice that could become strong enough for metal music. A few years later, Su auditioned into J-pop group Sakura Gakuin and Kobametal was one of the producers. Babymetal was formed as a side club of Sakura Gakuin with a concept of attracting young girls into metal music. Su was designated as the lead singer. Moa and Yui auditioned into BabyMetal as the dancer/screamer.
