She wasn't chuntering, she was making a good point. Apart from the swearing. Yes, her driving is terrible. But straddling lanes is not the solution here. This is bad instruction.

@mesjakeon6013
@mesjakeon6013 3 ай бұрын
@RickyYTWLD No, not really. Could have been possible to move over, let the car pass, and move back out. Wouldn't have need to stop, probably not even brake. Acceleration sense could have managed it. But really, the best thing to have done is just to drive completely in lane 2. Straggling lanes just isn't necessary. Unless you're driving a wide load or a manoeuvring a long vehicle. It's just silly. Totally agreed if anyone wants to slate her driving. It's shocking. But she has a point. I can't see how instructoring the learner to straggle the lanes served any purpose. Can't really drive in lane one, so drive fully and completely in lane two until you need to move over.
@hybridangel3403
@hybridangel3403 3 ай бұрын
The fact that she didn't realise he was straddling lanes is something to note. She was telling him to get into the left lane. I'd have said don't tell me anything. If she is driving sensibly and being careful she will not be irrate. And actually its the same for everyone driving.

That's stuck with me. And I'm feeling that right now I have my license been driving a year feel I know driving well certainly better then most people on the road but now doing the theory test to gain my hgv license and have been humbled quickly in knowing there is always more to learn. Got slightly off topic long story short it don't matter who you are how long you been driving there is always more for you to learn. And to judge someome else's driving is bad becuase non of us are perfect no one drives perfect 100% of the time and she will make a mistake and won't like it when people start shouting to her telling her she shouldn't have a license etc. Ppl need to mind there own business and focus on where there going not where other people are going or what there doing. And to get road rage over something stupid I'm sorry lady your not fit to drive and sooner your license is took the sooner the roads will be safer

Your test is just putting on a act when really no one drives like that. Which is stupid because we have kids acting sensible getting there license then thinking there on a rally track doing close to 80 mph changing lanes in between traffic on like 40mph roads. Driver and instructor are spot on. Left lane is blocked by parked cars, you are allowed to straddle the lane until it is safe to return. Been driving for 20 years, no accidents, no tickets, no fines. Used this maneuver consistently since i was taught at the age of 18. The lady was impatient and reckless which put them in way more danger than his lane straddling.
@Hoos
@Hoos 3 ай бұрын
No they arent though, They are never once in the left lane to start with. They should of remained in the right lane all the way down. All this does is make it look like hes turning into the left lane after clearing the parked cars on the road. it was totally pointless to drive into the middle of the lanes to begin with.
@markmiller330
@markmiller330 3 ай бұрын
@Hoos the video starts with them already half way down the road and they don't get a chance to pull back into the left because she starts driving like a knob so it becomes about staying safe at that point. If they were in the right lane as you say then why would she have attempted to pass on the right side and nearly cause an accident? In the end it doesn't matter who's right or not, it becomes a matter of safety and clearly that girl has never been taught patience and understanding. He's a learner, how is he meant to learn if not out on the road. People just have no empathy or consideration for others these days and it's sad to see. Everyone's just in a rush to get to their destination regardless of others.
@Hoos
@Hoos 3 ай бұрын
@@markmiller330 The video starts with them moving from the right lane into the middle of the road where the parked cars are "Supposedly because this is the safe thing to do"? When he gets into the middle of the lanes, it looks like he is either coming to stop in the left lane or trying to take a chance and squeeze through the lane with the parked cars. it even opens up a cars width where the woman initally tried to overtake "yes to early but got a cars width through". Even at the end of the video they never once pull into the left lane and move back into the right. The entire thing was pointless and dangerous in its self. All it achieved was. "Oh look hes moving into the left lane, Im going to try and squeeze through..." I agree with the Woman here. Completely bizare to just sit in the middle of the lanes. When he started in the right and finished there.

It's drivers like you that help build confidence for learners (like myself). Example of this: first time I drove on a road of 80km an hour, there was a very sharp right turn, and my foot slipped off the break (as I was feathering it to slow down) and slapped the gas. Without losing control of the car, I was able to fix my footing in time to navigate the sharp turn without further problems, and had it not been for the drivers behind me keeping a safe distance, we all would've been in trouble. (They understood that I was a new driver and gave me plenty of space to make mistakes without putting themselves at risk).

I'll never forget that he passed me despite the instructor saying he couldn't do the test because there were bald tyres. Dude took a house key with enough tread, also taught me about wear marks in the tyre's and how to tell if they were bald or not. I hope he had a good life that dude, over 30 years ago now. Does anyone know where lane straddling is advised? AFAIK, you should drive in a predictable way, driving in middle of two lanes is unpredictable, whereas being in lane 2 to pass obstacles in lane 1 is very predictable. Lane straddling would be limited to very brief obstacles (e.g., one parked car).

Straddling lanes on a dual carriageway can be considered defensive behavior because it creates a buffer zone around your vehicle, providing more space and reaction time to avoid potential hazards. By positioning your vehicle between lanes, you increase your visibility to other drivers and reduce the risk of being side-swiped or forced off the road by vehicles merging or changing lanes abruptly. Additionally, straddling lanes can discourage aggressive drivers from attempting dangerous maneuvers such as squeezing into tight spaces or tailgating, as they perceive less room for error. Overall, straddling lanes on a dual carriageway is a defensive strategy aimed at maximizing safety and minimizing the likelihood of accidents.

Rule 133 If you need to change lane, first use your mirrors and if necessary take a quick sideways glance to make sure you will not force another road user to change course or speed. When it is safe to do so, signal to indicate your intentions to other road users and when clear, move over. Rule 134 You should follow the signs and road markings and get into the lane as directed. In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily. Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed. Single carriageway Rule 135 Where a single carriageway has three lanes and the road markings or signs do not give priority to traffic in either direction use the middle lane only for overtaking or turning right. Remember, you have no more right to use the middle lane than a driver coming from the opposite direction do not use the right-hand lane. Rule 136 Where a single carriageway has four or more lanes, use only the lanes that signs or markings indicate. Dual carriageways A dual carriageway is a road which has a central reservation to separate the carriageways. Rule 137 On a two-lane dual carriageway you should stay in the left-hand lane. Use the right-hand lane for overtaking or turning right. After overtaking, move back to the left-hand lane when it is safe to do so. Rule 138 On a dual carriageway with three or more lanes, you may use the middle lanes or the right-hand lane to overtake but you should return to the middle lanes and then the left-hand lane when it is safe to do so.

@kinkaito5433 if you were intending to take a left turn but couldn't be in left lane due to obstructions, straddling then indicating would be the correct thing to do rather than coming across from the right lane as people behind would assume you were just indicating to pull into the left lane and not expect you to slow down. Also, if the obstructions are only brief, i.e., a couple of seconds to pass it, you don't have to worry about someone moving into you blind spot as its clear what you are intending to do. I can see what your saying this isnt happening in this video, and I think they pulled in the right hand lane at the traffic lights just to get next to the offending car as they knew it would be good content for the channel...

You are supposed to straddle the middle lane when passing parked vehicles in the left hand lane that do not completely block the left hand lane but do not leave enough room to pass safely by. The reason being that if you go completely in to the right hand lane then someone might try to pass you on the left because they misjudge how much space they have and then cause an accident. By straddling both lanes you block both lanes and prevent anyone from passing you.

That was an acceptable use of the horn to me. The horn isn't only to tell someone you're there who hasn't seen you. It's also to alert others that there's a hazard. Besides she's cutting across the front of a learner at a dangerously slow speed. The horn is there to be used it wasn't excessive or unwarranted.

Learners are meant to just use the right lane without fully moving into right lane when there 's a few cars parked in left lane. And as soon as the left lane clears up move back in left lane. If you think learner was in the wrong go read the highway code.

Remember hearing about a learner around Tameside in Manchester who stalled at lights then lights went red before moving off again. Lady in car behind was beeping. Lights changed, stalled again, went red before moving off again. Lady behind beeping again. Lights changed again, stalled again!!!, went red before moving off again. Lady behind got out of car to complain to learner. Was a Police car in queue behind who put his loudspeaker on and said "Would the lady who has just left her vehicle please remember she was once a learner too and return to her own car". Lights changed again, stalled again and Police had forgotten to turn off loudspeaker saying "F****** Hell, the dozy t*** has done it again" before the learner moved off quickly 😃

Driver instructor: What are you supposed to do if someone is very close behind you? Me: Slow down? He: Yes. Slow down. Woman started to signal with the horn. He: What does it mean when someone is signaling with the horn? Me: She's warning me about immidiate danger? He: Yes. And what shall you do? Me: Stop the car? He: Yes. So stop the car. She was forious hanging out the window taking pictures with her phone and yelling like a maniac. 😂
