ROAD SIGNS AND MEANINGS CANADA - Driving Demonstration Some Of The Most Common Road Signs

Black & White & Red signs are regulation signs
Any combination of black, white, and red signs are regulatory signs. This means if you disregard what is on the sign, you’re breaking the law.
Signs with yellow backgrounds are warning signs; usually about upcoming hazards. Most warning signs are in the shape of a diamond.
A speed sign on a yellow background is a recommendation; not law.
Green signs are typically for destinations and route numbers.
Blue signs are often for services and attractions such as food, hotel, gas, camping, boat launch, rest area, etc.
Orange signs are for construction, maintenance, and/or something of a temporary nature. Be sure to watch for traffic control people and follow their directions.
Any sign white, black, red, and green, or any combination of those colors is a regulation sign and refers to action you can or can not do Right Here, Right Now.
New drivers are often confused by all the road signs. There are so many, and they are busy trying to learn about the lines on the road and pavement markings at the same time.
It can help to study the road lines and signs before you are learning how to drive so that when you go into the car you feel more prepared.
It takes a while to learn everything so don't be too hard on yourself when you're a student driver. It's not easy to be a student driver!

What's the difference between road signs no. 3 and that of no. 6 I.e people crossing and the cross sign marked on the road

Hi! In this specific case, they both mean there is a “crosswalk soon.” The white painted X on the ground is also sometimes for indicating a train crossing is coming soon. So it would always be some kind of a crossing, but not always obvious which one. Did you notice for no.6 there was also the same sign hiding sort of in the shadows but it’s there! Hope that all made sense…

At 3:33 so those signs mean to be prepared to slow down and be prepared so stop but it doesn’t actually mean to slow down right away after you’ve seen these signs right?

Hey... With the Playground sign, it just means to look out for kids and slow down if you think you should because of kids around the road...But the speed limit doesn't change. For the "Prepare to stop" sign. IF the yellow lights are flashing, it means there is (or going to be very soon) a red or yellow light. So usually when I see those yellow lights flashing I would at least take my foot off the gas, and get it ready for slowing/stopping.. Depending on how far away you are from the intersection.. But whatever distance to the intersection, I would basically prepare to stop with my foot on or over the brake, because the light will be red/yellow very soon.. Hope that made sense... let me know :)

In the video it's not flashing yellow, and I see no kids anywhere, so I just basically keep going 50, and I know that flashing green light won't go yellow before I'm through the intersection (or past the point of no return..)

And for prepare to stop with kids makes sense too it’s just that a lot of my family and friends tell me not to slow down to a 30 when I see the sign of “be aware of kids” or like I see there’s a park but the street looks busy yet it has the playground sign it low key seems I should be at a 30. Especially if they’re kids on the road. So this helps ! Ty

@@estelasanchez. I hear you. Technically, the yellow playground warning sign means "Playground nearby, be prepared to slow down." Yellow signs are warnings... White signs are the law. www.icbc.com/driver-licensing/documents/drivers3.pdf The thing I wanna emphasize is no one can "undo" hurting a child with a car. Children are unpredictable, wild and crazy and they are not just something that makes you go slower,.. they're someone's baby, and parents can't always control them or keep them safe or from running into the road. When you get your license, you will be able to drive alone. Then you will be making all the decisions for yourself.!! SO feel free to practice that right now, making decisions for yourself, even if people are telling you things. You can decide... Should you go 30, even if you're in a 50 zone? Should you go 20, even in a 30 zone, or should you go 40? It really doesn't matter what the speed limit is.. What's the safe (appropriate) speed for this particular moment? The thing about driving is every moment of every day is gonna be different. So you need to decide what the safe speed is, no mater the speed limit. The faster you go, the longer it takes to stop (exponentially). If you make safety your #1 priority, that can help you decide the best speed..

BC's flashing green lights are bizarre. In Ontario a flashing green light means you have the right of way, i.e. oncoming traffic has a red light and you may turn left. Best not try that in BC!
