Easily the best looking in the segment. Undercuts the luxury brands in price and as far as harshness and road noise is concerned an upgrade in tires will easily lessen both. Schreyer builds a winner.

Hi John, can you make a head-to-head video comparison between the 2012 Sportage EX FWD vs. Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD. Since the 2 cars are direct cousin, I wanted to know which of the 2 have the edge in terms of performance.

How in the world did MotorWeek screw up the acceleration test so bad? An abysmal 8.3s 0-60? This vehicle can do it in under 7 seconds easily, even with FWD. With AWD and it should be around 6.5.

Agreed, I own an EX and MotorTrend said it was 10.3s to 60. That is off by 2s. Add a turbo and this is easily a 6.5s vehicle.

Yeah there car has to have a problem because car and driver tested a 2011 sx and did 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. But a long term test model did it in 7.4 seconds, either way its alot faster then 8.3 seconds.

Kias have not been depreciating recently... Like the Optima, it's value depreciated at avery low rate, I don't remember the exact percentage, but it was the same percentage of depreciating that elite cards go through.

Those Hankook Optima's are terrible. No traction and LOUD. I replaced them after about 5k. This is a 6sec vehicle.

They put so much effort into the overall design of this car. So for the life of me I wonder why they made the interior so monochromatically BLAND. Also, what do the Asian makers have against beige interiors? Black or Gray interior is awfully limited.

I wouldn't buy another Kia. My 2012 Sportage SX suffered engine failure after pulling my 1,100lb pop-up camper for 5 miles. Blew the spark plugs apart, and put a hole in cylinder 3. This was the 3rd time it had engine problems in the 6,500 miles I had it. Kia doesn't want to warranty it, claiming it was over-loaded. It's rated to tow 2,000lbs. Kia will do anything to cop out of warranty work, so I had to get an attorney to file lemon law against them.

metrogtiguy Ik this comment is 6 yrs old but, there are thing you can do to help your engine pull things without over heating, i have a friend with an Odyssey who towed a big trailer of furniture from va to Florida with no issue

My care has only 250hp and get 0-60 in 5.5 sec awd, what a failure of car.

They messed up with the time. Online tests rate it between 6.2-6.5 (6.5 if you use the crap oem tires) I get 6.2 when I tested it and it runs on Regular gas and blended oil. Once you change it to synthetic with premium, there is a bit more kick as well.
