I am on the market for a new ute here in Peru, so I drove a Tahoe LT yesterday and it was great!!!. I don't like the column gear lever, but it doesn't matter, the ride is very nice and quiet inside. So that is the one I am getting!

If GM put at least an 8 speed automatic transmission on these vehicles, then fuel economy will be improved and shifts would be quicker, considering all the engines in this platform are all V8s.

I hate it when he starts off the video by essentially saying unless you're towing or going off road, you really should be in a crossover. Crossovers are nothing more than glorified cars, with half the reliability, and half the capability their body on frame counterparts possess. Do you live where snow storms can be prevalent? Don't get a crossover, cuz those can barely make it through. Live where strong rainstorms can cause some mud slides? I wouldn't recommend that Ford Explorer or GMC Acadia, because you're likely to get stuck. And do you plan on keeping your car pass that 3 to 5 years everyone has still been expected to do by "experts"? Well, you might not want to get a type of vehicle that's been known to fall apart like Jenga after the warranty goes up. And you guessed it, crossovers have been known for that. Yes, you have the few exceptions. But those tend to not be built by American automakers, and even then, unfortunately, have tended to underperform in the previously mentioned severe weather conditions. If you want a capable, and long-term reliable family holler that is truly built for longevity, body-on-frame SUVs are the better option all the way. However, if you're the type that prefers a crossover, and you don't plan on keeping your car past 5 years, to each their own...

Pushrods=less parts and parasitic loss, lower engine height, more torque, as high revs as comparable ohc, variable valve timing, cylinder deactivation, less vibration...etc

I hate the column shifter. reason why I still don't own this ute. If they change that they will earn my business.

This is a real truck - column shifter is great for this segment.

Pushrods? Is GM still stuck in 1950?
@farmerallis10 жыл бұрын
Why do you idiots always hate on pushrods? They're actually the most efficient way to operate the valves, while keeping engine weight down and the center of gravity of the engine low.

Ford got hated for still using pushrods up until 96 in the trucks

still using push rod V8's not cool gm
@farmerallis10 жыл бұрын
Please, explain. Pushrods are actually a very efficient way to operate the valves.

ya but its old technology, and they can break too
@farmerallis10 жыл бұрын
***** The wheel is also an "old technology," so what's you're point? They're still the most efficient way to operate the valvetrain with minimal parts, minimal friction, less weight, and a lower engine center of gravity. And anything can break...including an OHC valvetrain.
@grahamrothphotography10 жыл бұрын
oh, my bad, just thought there was a reason everyone went to overhead cams vs pushrods
@farmerallis10 жыл бұрын
***** Overhead cams usually perform better under very high RPMs, and the intake and exhaust valves can be controlled independently of one another (DOHC). They have their advantages and disadvantages, but to say pushrods are inferior just because they're an "old technology" is erroneous.
