Enjoy this Mic’d up bullpen! Feel like it gives a great perspective on the mindset I have while throwing. Great education tool for young pitchers!

so i'm a 15 y/o 5'8 160lb pitcher that can throw 78-81 but i can never seem to keep that velo after the first inning and i drop down about 5 mph and lose any command i had, why is this, should i focus on not throwing as hard and just controlling, do i work on my mechanics, or do i just hit the weight room more

Bro, probably you have to work on efficiency in your mechanics, search tread athletics the Jacob degrom breakdown they talk specifically about that, throwing hard and easy to maintain the velo through de game

Depending on how much you already throw, I'd say throw more. Throwing relatively hard every day, unless you're sore, will help you build up endurance in your arm. Eventually you won't feel anything throwing. Also focus on having smooth mechanics, if you feel like you have to put an insane amount of effort into every pitch, you're doing it wrong. Stay smooth, just let the ball come out, and if you need to let one rip in a certain situation, don't be afraid to.
