I’m training to go to the NBA and I have an amazing story. A long intro short, I returned to training basketball after a few years off after COVID hit and had learned that I’m actually genetically left handed. After a week of making sure this was true, I wondered and wondered how great could I have been if I had grew up as a lefty, especially after what I’ve already shown I could do as a right-handed player.So I got to work.
Day after day. Month after Month. Cold, hot, rain, or not, I trained and trained as a lefty. And this was the most frustrating, uncomfortable time of my life. But once I knew who I was truly meant to be, I could never give up no matter how long or how difficult it would be. And here I am 9 months later; I’ve unlocked my lefty & ambidextrous game and became a player I never imagined becoming. Turning my biggest weaknesses into my biggest strengths, I’m boldly ready to share my road and, God-willing, my journey to becoming an NBA player.
I am working towards starting my pro career in the NBA G League after summer and prove myself there. 🙏🏾

Cool story man, I just got back into hooping 4 months ago after taking a couple years off as well. Idk what your age is but I recommend finding some adult leagues with good competition and hit that g league tryout and see what happens. Regardless of if you make the NBA or not (some of the factors for that league may be out of your control), just be the best baller you can be. Play the game at your best until your body doesn't allow it! I wish you luck and I'll be looking for your name in the league.

Thanks! Much love 🎸It isn't needed. I was able to score many 20+ point games right handed and there are other players that are left handed that play righty. But I never knew I was growing up so when I switched my regular life stuff, like playing guitar, to being lefty it felt much more comfortable and easier mentally. So I figured basketball would be the same and right now I feel like a much better basketball player. Each person is different and finds their path

Ay I can relate to that. I’ve always had a short stride on my sprint (I’m a sprinter for HS), but now I’m working on trying to extend my stride. It’s scary bc I always think that I’m losing speed, but I’m actually starting to gain the hang of it

And ngl, having a player who’s great at handling with both hands is damn impossible to stop. I played AAU for basketball, I think I went against only one dude who could dribble with both hands. It was hard to stop that guy, and I’m a great defender. I always try to force people to use their non dominant hand so I can steal, but can’t do that when the person has great ball handles on both hands 🤷🏾‍♂️

Hey man this is awesome. I just wanna say one thing though.. in baseball, there is only one switch hitter who hit the same thing from both sides. Chipper Jones hit .303 as a lefty and .304 righty. For everybody else its at least pretty different or way different. I've seen it in golf and other sports too. It's awesome how dedicated you are, but don't you think you should use the time to refine one stroke? (I'm just talkin bout your jumper obviously). I'm just thinking it would be more advantageous to be great with one hand than it would to be just decent using both. Anyway hope you keep refining whichever one feels more natural. Keep up the hard work.

Honestly bro, you’re right. I spend most of my time training my left. But because I used to want to be the greatest shooter of all time and spent my whole childhood and young adult years training my shot, I found that I still can swish right handed easily without much practice. Also, for me training my lefty translates to my right and vice versa. As for most shots, my lefty is much more comfortable & better for long run so I’ve seen it’s best to mostly train ambidextrous for layups, dunks, close range shots, footwork, and for a few special moments. Often times you can tell by which of your eyes are dominant. Search “How to tell eye dominance”. And there’s other little things people do (like which thumb is on top when you fold your hands together. For me it’s left) Also for me, I did things left handed without realizing it. Like I always used my phone in my left hand and when I put it in my right it feels awkward. When I switched from a right handed guitar to a left handed one it felt like I was home

Why you laughing so hard? Even if I was terrible, bringing others down and spreading negative energy ends up bringing down your own energy and spirit. I’m blessed to have experience dealing with thousands of hate comments when I was a content creator during my time off of basketball, but think about how you would feel if others brought hate and laughter at you as you said your goals and dreams. You don't have to believe in people, but just be aware that spreading negativity ends up reflecting on to yourself.
