Here is a quick look and run down of what we have planned for our 2021 SEMA van build we will be building this year! This is a Chevy Express cargo van with a killer 6.6L Duramax Diesel that already has our 4x4 Coilover conversion on it, so step one is already complete now it's on to everything else!

So jelly, just got a 14 Awd blacked out express cargo van. I wanted a duramax so bad. Can’t wait to see the build! For the record I’m in the same boat nothing but a shelled inside with a bulkhead. I have no idea how I’m gunna start this build lol but I’ll definitely be watching!

Sound Dent On the walls the silver back insulation from Lowe’s or Home Depot works good for insulation We haul freight here on the East Coast in cargo vans and we have to insulate them to keep them cool in the summer and warm in the winter so rooftop air-conditioning like for RV in a Chinese bunk heater works great for winter I’ll get some pictures and send them to you how my van looks

Van insulation...you're jumping into the fire if you want opinions about that! People are very vocal about what they think is good and what they think is bad. Also, once you insulate, you might be surprised at the A/C output from the front alone. It's not great when you're trying to cool down idling in a parking lot, but once you're at temp on the road it would surprise you. I have a 9 passenger Explorer and as we drove from Arches to Grand Canyon this June my kids didn't need the rear AC blasting. But I probably would be looking at adding it too.

I had a 12 duramax 6.6 van and used your kit. Turned out rad but I could never keep it cool. Even with factory rear air. Also the duramax is challenging with the 6l90 trans. I found one guy willing to program a tune for it but the challenge is the duramax and 6l90 weren't ever made to communicate like the allison does. I ended up selling my van a few months back because of the constant issues with injectors, trans not shifting like I expected out of the van and it being black ( which was a terrible idea in Havasu!!). Good luck with the build. Love the fenders and good you made for them. I'm back in an econoline now. I'm not a ford guy or a chevy guy, I'm a what works best guy and I really had concerns with the ifs (not your components) on these express vans and the quality of the whole van seems inferior to the fords. Anyhow keep up those rad builds and awesome van parts.

@@garhead169 yes. Had an 02 econoline 4x4 with a 7.3. Then built a gas 4x4 econoline and sold both to go to the 6.6 duramax platform and it was a little disappointing. The van had 2 injector issues and countless other things happen in the short time I owned it. Def pump problems, rear ac didn't work well, went on a trip into the eastern sierras with a lot of off-road use and a wire harness came loose and got wrapped in the fan which ripped harness out causing fan blade to break which caused fan shroud to also break!! Just a lot of things I wasn't really happy with in the Chevy. Even the quality of the interior components seem extremely poorly made in the chevy compared to the Ford. Maybe I just had bad luck? Mine looked very similar to the weldtec one only on 33s with barn doors. I will say the weldtec components were no part of the dislike of failures. Their stuff is top notch imo. So I'm back in a gas 2011 e350 for now ( just bought 3 days ago) and plan on a build on it. I made the mistake of picking up a 06 mercedes t1n sprinter a few months ago with intentions of a van build but after digging into that thing I realized I am way out of my league when it comes to mercedes repairs and builds so it's going up for sale soon!

Might not help since you prob intend to DIY, but I took my Ford to a van conversion place to go over interior options, since it's quite involved - wall coverings, lighting, windows, seating, etc (was an empty cargo van too). But those places seem to be few and far between these days... besides a big outfit like Sportsmobile (which I don't care for). Will be interested to know what you use for rear air... hadn't thought of adding that until now.

You plan on putting fancy windows on the walls? Also, if you don't already do this, those frame rails along the walls and ceiling are great for stuffing your wiring behind.
