Road to the Slot.it Group C slot car Nationals 2023 - Part 2 - The Race 4K

Wow, what a weekend. Thank you so much for joining me on my Slot.it Group C Nationals journey. I wanted to produce more content leading up to the Race, but we were so busy preparing the slot cars that the next video just ended up being the race itself!
The event took place at ‪@slotcarstore‬ in El Segundo, California between August 10-13, 2023. With 72 entries, the race was one of the biggest 1/32 scale slot car races in the USA in recent history, and was an incredible turnout from racers from all over the country.
Maurizio Ferrari, Slot.it CEO, was present, as well as incredible KZbinr ‪@thatslotcarguy‬ from Australia! Both did incredibly, and you should absolutely subscribe to both ‪@slotitandpolicarofficial9687‬ and Travis (that slot car guy) for great content.
The race was on a routed wooden purpose built 6 lane 93 foot long slot car track built by world renowned builder Gary Gerding. You can find the rules for the event on the Electric Dreams website here: www.electricdreams.com.
I can't thank everyone enough for an incredible weekend of fun, awesome weather, and incredible food and company. My hope with this video is that it conveys just a smidge of the fun that we all had, and that SLOT CARS ARE BACK!
Anyone looking to race competitive 1/24 or 1/32 slot cars, look no further than this race! It will happen again next year in August of 2024, and entries are limited, so be sure to earmark your calendar!
The next episode will uncover the slot car tuning techniques used to build the winning car, and actually 4 of the top 6 finishers utilized the same building methods to achieve fantastic results. Stay tuned, and subscribe, to not miss out on that one!

@L9A - All the cars that we/they race are cars that start life as off the shelf $50 Slot.it Group C Slot Cars. Almost all the parts the cars used in this race were off the shelf parts by Slot.it. The difference between a fast car and a slow car comes down to the attention to detail on the small aspects like how smoothly the axles spin, how flat the chassis is, how you set up the ride height. Out of the box, a car would be fun, but not competitive. Part of the fun of this is being able to work on your car and tune it, and see the progress you make by getting better and better lap times :) Hope that helps!

1975 Missouri state WHISPER JET Slot car champion 🏆🥇. Moved to gear driven unlimited racing with scale speeds of over 750 mph. I was only 13 yrs. Young . Loved sport and hobby. Tracks to hard to find now a days ,wish we had one near !

Great footage!! One question, why are they using those large magnets under the motor during lane changes??

I believe that they are heat-sinks to help cool the motor when it is not turning.

At 13:40 im presuming that those are neodymium magnets on the motors? That helps motor performance?

That is a custom made cooling fan which sticks to the car using a magnet 😊 It helps cool the car in between heats.

Hello Ian why the pilot put some magnet under the motor when intersegments

Hey! One of the racers, Brandon Phillips, 3d printed a magnetic fan that sticks to the car during lane changes and will cool the motor. It's no different than a traditional motor cooling fan, but it allows you to clean the tires while it's cooling :)
