YES IT'S BACK thank you Jeff as an Australian this warms my heart and considering where this map is located it's about 200km away from my home town and we do the thank you thing but we do it like right blinker left right left
@Seymp10 ай бұрын
Hi Jeff, if you want to drive like a local here are some tips. Where there are no lines on the road, come up onto the crown of the road, i.e. drive down the middle of the road and move over when necessary. Our roads are crowned to shed water, so driving on one side means you are leaning to the left, which makes the trailers move around a lot more, it's dangerous and uncomfatable. It's also much safer for braking. When someone wants to overtake you, do not move over. You will drop your left wheels off the bitumen and throw a cloud of dust, rocks and all types of shit everywhere and they won't be able to pass, you will also break the windshield of every vehicle behind you. Keep your wheels on the road and when it's safe for them to pass put your right indicator on so they know it's safe to go around. If you are on smaller roads, especially access or remote dirt roads, you can run a fourth trailer. It's common to run an extra trailer (or three) up to a main road so you, or a second driver won't have to come back so far for your second load. Finally, road trains are not rare around here. People are used to them and most locals know the deal. Just do you, and most of the time they will move around you. Watch out for tourists and caravans! Enjoy nothingness. Also, we pronounce the U like 'you' ('mewsic' not 'moosic') so those town names are even harder to say than you think...
@Matty127879 ай бұрын
Do you flash your lights to let other drivers know when it's safe to pull in front after overtaking? He said that it was only an American thing but I have found truckies to be the most considerate on the road, will let you know when it's safe to pull in front and if you do the same in return you always get the left, right and then left flash from the blinkers to thank you. Definitely not an American thing, more of a courtesy and polite thing to do..
@Seymp9 ай бұрын
Yes always. Flash to let them know the back of the last trailer is past and they can move back in. Then left, right, left, single flash to say thanks is traditional for areas where radios are not common. Out here we are almost always talking to each other on the radio so you see it less. @@Matty12787

hi Jeff I am a Road Train Driver in Western Australia and i have to say the roads are not as smooth in real life for instance most dirt sections are corrugated and the seal bitumen are full of pot holes and if driving a triple the last trailer tends to be a pain but happy to see our profession make it to ATS

I tell ya mate, outback trucking is for every trucker in reality, the outback can cost ya more then ya truck, it fries your truck out there & have seen trucks with tyres that have melted, radiators cook so easy, it’s a challenging job for a trucker as you’re mostly alone out there & will rarely come across another truck or human, if your truck shits it then you better hope you got enough water & food for the next few days till someone can get out to ya to help repair or tow your truck! :) love the vids mate, one thing us Aussie & many Americans I feel agree with, kenworths & macks are some of the toughest manliest trucks you can drive & buy 😂

Hey Jeff, awesome video as always, and was great to see in my home of Aus. One thing I thought I'd mention is with the t610 you're driving, and all of the bigger Aussie Kenworths we have here, they are all pretty much running Cummins X15 engines. The Paccar engines are used for smaller Kenworths that are doing local runs. Though they do run the Paccar engines in Daf's and the higher HP engines do run B-Doubles. But yeah just thouyght I'd mention it to add a bit more realism for your next aussie run, and also the X15's sound a lot better than the Paccar's haha.

Depending on how the road is graded and in what state. A vast majority of our highways are 110 kmh (68mph) however a lot of large companies are mandating their fleet are restricted to 90 kmh (55mph) for fuel and maintenance savings. Seeing as the vast majority of heavy vehicles are owner operated, they choose their own speed up to the max each state allows.

Letting someone know they can bring it back in by flashing lights is a thing here in Oz mate. Thanking them is usually either a quick flash of Hazards to Left, Right, Left of the indicators. It is used around the Cities a bit but mostly on the open roads, it seems to be a dying thing as a lot of younger Truckers are not that courteous.
