After watching this season I was hooked and have a lot of respect for alot of these guys throughout the show. Only thing you missed was you ended the video 10 seconds too early, and skipped what happened about the last 2 trailers. For anyone intrested. "Steve Grahame took another 8 days to get his last 2 trailers in" So it was a 45 day trip or 53 day trip depending on if he had done the last 2 trailers when he said 45 days. Cheers

I live in the States and went with my old man in his truck all over the country! We weren't a road train, just an extended Peterbilt 379 with a Cat C15 "king of the hill" 550hp 18 speed hooked up to a 58ft flatbead. He hauled really long oversized loads like steel I-Beams, 60ft+ rebar for construction and whatnot. I remember one time we were up in Montana with a oversized load of rebar and got caught in a hellish blizzard, they shut down all the freeways and i remember watching the highway closing gates shutting behind us as we kept going. We were blasting through 4ft snow drifts knowing that if we stopped we might not get going again. Glad the old man chained up earlier when the roads got icy enough but even still we got stuck on a couple hills but he was able to get us out and keep going until finally we got stuck going up a huge icy mountain and there was nothing we could do but wait it out. We had to camp there for almost 3 days because the blizzard dumped almost 5 ft of snow and the drifts were too big to clear with normal plows. I was 9 so i thought it was really fun but my dad was definitely not happy about the dispatchers annoying phone calls.

Those roads are insane. When they built the Alcan hiway, they laid down non-woven fabric first and put rock on top of it. The fabric lets the water through and provides a solid base for the rock. Leaves a super durable road bed that is stable, even when heavy loads are on it.

@@TimHollis3006 2000km of bitumen road would have torn those tyres up if the tread is too aggressive. Blacksoil clay doesn't really matter too much with tread on that size truck. It's like running slicks regardless of tread when it's sticky. We have mud tyres on our trucks and they still get stuck just like he is. I'm more surprised the graders weren't blading the wet mud patches in front of him or the front end loader atleast back blading the bogs. They knew he was coming and are already going out to help, why not grade as they go to help reduce the water pooling and soaking in. Plus their tyres rolling over it might harden it up some and let the surface bake.

My entire question seeing this for the first time was have his problems are self inflicted. Overheating diffs? Upgrade coolers. Engine lacking powder? Upgrade. Engine overheating? Upgrade cooling. If this is your job why don’t you have correct tool for the job? It’s literally your livelihood

Addendum: But it's also nice to see that his loyal German shepherd is by his side during these hardships! A man's best friend is his German Shepherd! This from my own experience! Cheers from Germany

@@Outback-Truckers Complete agreement! Of course, all other dogs and animals in general are loyal souls and friends for their owners! Now that I also have German Shepherds, this episode particularly stands out to me with its adventurous and challenging situations! So, big thanks to EVERYONE involved (including the cameramen)!
