Great drive! Can you pronounce Nguyen in English which is my last name? If you say "win", then you're correct! The reason why it is pronounce like that is because it involves complex combination of sounds, including a "ng" sound similar to the "ng" in "singer". Also, Nguyễn is tonal with the accent mark in Vietnamese, where in English, it is written without the accent mark and no tonal. In Vietnamese, it is pronounced "new-win" which is where non-Vietnamese people often pronounce it incorrectly.

@@RoadsOfAsiaBen yes, we have a huge Vietnamese population where I grew up. I owned a business in a shopping center where almost every other business was Vietnamese owned, so I got to know a lot of them, and their Asian customers also patronized my business.

No, we didn’t have passports. Before we do the US-1 series, we will have passports so we can go into Canada.
