6:03 Rivershack Tavern. I had a few great nights there. I even remember some of them. :)

Did a school reunion at the one on Shrewsbury about 10 years ago. It's a nice place. They opened a second location at the foot of Huey P. Long Avenue in Gretna a few years ago. Similar atmosphere, but they have a lot of outdoor seating and a rooftop bar that overlooks the river.

with Mark Twain in mind, take this drive noting the levee on your left. and that to your right would have been miles of plantation fields. His “Life on the Mississippi “ is still the most fascinating story of a period of time and a way of life in America.

Elmwood was also Camp Plauche during WWII.

jimjim I remember seeing something about that at some point but it didn’t come up in my research. There is a Plauche Court back in the industrial complex.

9:03. I wonder if that is the entergy transmission tower that fell in the river during ida
@504RoadTrips3 жыл бұрын
No. The tower that collapsed was at Nine Mile Point on the other side of the river.

There was a great restaurant in the very old Elmwood Plantation. The building from the early 1700s no longer exists.
