They need to widen Siegen Lane from six to eight lanes wide with an hov lane. And turn that obesity causing retail into houses. We have enough of those areas in Baton Rouge.

I remember stopping for gas at a Gulf station next to a Holiday Inn at I-10 and Siegen on the way to see Grandma in Metairie as a kid, and that's all there was.

Cool video! I love how commercialized Siegel Lane is! I agree that it should be call a Boulevard or Avenue!

That part of Baton Rouge was developed with these lazy little winding two-lane roads that they put the Lane suffix on. I guess they didn’t envision what it was going to turn into 50 or 60 years later.

yup, definatley a bad design on that road with no median. We used to have a street like that called St.James street. But they added a proper median many years ago.
@504RoadTrips5 жыл бұрын
It's not an uncommon design down this way. But I think that when they built it, they didn't anticipate that the road would be constantly clogged with shoppers trying to get to the various retail outlets along the road. As recently as 5 years ago, there were still spots of vacant land along the length of that stretch. It's time for a redesign now. Streetview from 2008 shows woods along a good bit of it, with all of the development right along the edge of I-10.

Pinball lane. Imagine 100 metal pinballs all narrowly dodging one another on an undetermined path in a retro pinball machine. Siegen Lane.

@@504RoadTrips Haha! No... But I've seen the traffic there before, and dang... 😲 I went over to BTR for the day just to ride around and check things out better. Went through Port Allen through Plaquemine (I had family there and hadn't been trough there in 7 years) and White Castle to Donaldsonville, then over through Convent and back accross the Sunshine Bridge up through Sorrento up throgh Gonzales and back throgh Prarieville back to BTR! I'm suprised at how big Gonzales got, and how close to Baton Rouge it really is! Also, speed limit is 65 mph, through town!
