Lived out on old 63, between Imboden and Ravenden back in the 60's. Main Street was the center of town, sorry to see it now. Attended the Methodist Church and Sloan-Hendrix Elementary School.

Nevertheless, this is a road worthy of a fine video series like this.

Been on 412 through all of it in Tennessee and about half of it in Arkansas. It runs a beautiful route- very scenic. But, a lot of it in eastern Arkansas is 2 lanes, which i don't like. In Tennesse, it's mostly divided 4 lane, with freeway level speed limites, which i do like.

I didn't know there was a raven statue. I must have missed when I went through there.

We drove right by it and missed it. I didn’t know about it until I was in the editing stage.

I own the property and the old station on the left at 8:23 I moved away to Illinois over 20 years ago. Used to be a house there too, but burnt down over 10 years ago. The station was a unilocal 76 ran by my grandparents Babe and Opal. I'm 3rd generation to own it. Been to sentimental to sell

US 62 is a interesting us highway. It's only 'west-East' route that ends at international border. Also it only us highway passes Ohio River twice. Sadly, it's not labeled when in the heart of okc.

I still cannot figure out why we need the misplaced US 412 since it spends most of its length in concurrencies with other US and interstate highways.
@504RoadTrips4 жыл бұрын
I can't find a good mile-by-mile route description. Is any part of it not concurrent with another US Highway?
@waltersaul18074 жыл бұрын
@@504RoadTrips, actually, quite a bit. You're right to exclude state highway concurrencies, since US Highways grew out of a need to connect state highways in the first place. From Columbia, Tennessee, it's concurrent with only state highways (as is every US highway) or I-155 all the way to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Then it's concurrent with US 62 until west of Harrison, Arkansas. It becomes an important road through Springdale. In Oklahoma, it has brief concurrencies in Tulsa, but is independent enough to be the only US highway off the Interstate system that is also a toll road (I think that's true). This happens twice. Then it joins with US 64 west of I-35 (though it has shadowed 64 all the way through Oklahoma). There's a 52-mile independent segment that ends in Woodward, Oklahoma, then it's concurrent with one or two other US highways for its last 315 miles to Springer, New Mexico. Why?
@504RoadTrips4 жыл бұрын
@@waltersaul1807 everywhere I looked on the map, I saw a concurrency. But I guess I was looking west of Walnut Ridge. It’s unusual that any length to the end is concurrent with another US Highway. Over the last 30 years or so, they’ve been truncating highways with that kind of concurrency.
@waltersaul18074 жыл бұрын
@@504RoadTrips, yes, that's true, and I am not happy about that. So why has 412 been lengthened over its lifespan? It has never been truncated. I wouldn't mind if they lengthened US 64 through the Grand Canyon and on to Williams, Arizona, where it could replace Arizona 64 (!), but I could let go of 412 in a heartbeat.
@504RoadTrips4 жыл бұрын
@@waltersaul1807 I’m not happy about truncations either. I understand they were trying to make it less complicated after the interstates took over. But I look at old maps of New Orleans when US-11, 51, and 71 all ended in the downtown area, and now they don’t even come close.

I don't really pay much attention to plates, but since we've now done video in 18 states, we've probably caught plates from all 50 on video.
