If you pay attention you can see the guy at multiple stages in this game. You see him right before you pull into the gas station by the bushes, you see him leaving your car before you exit the gas station building, you can see him leave your room after you go get the desk worker, and you can see him go behind the building by the coffee machine. Same with the first game, it all about paying attention to your surroundings.

Hey MatPat. This was a cool playthrough because of your vigilance (even though the player character ingested pills against your will lol). As a tiny girl, I never really identified with the "Ha! Come at me with an axe, I can take you!" mentality that guys I've watched tended to have when playing this. Besides, I think most girls could tell (and fear) that the attacker is more likely to sexually assault a girl in this situation THEN murder her afterwards OR ship her off to be trafficked, and those add whole new layers of fear. Idk if you or Mirror Matt considered that because the only possibilities you mentioned are murder and cults. Unfortunately, I think the implications of rape have been highly reduced so the manly male players get even less of a hint. The ghost that the guy at the gas station mentioned was originally said to have been raped and murdered on prom night, not killed in a car accident. Also, note that Holly has been drugged, there was a man in her closet, and Joe eventually complained about 'goofy noises'. I wonder what that was implying 🤔. And in Gab Smolders' playthrough, you can hear a creepy guy whispering "Hello?" into your ear over and over in the last part. It upped the creepy factor by a lot. The vending machine is probably something that the attacker put to drug victims, and he purposely removed it when Holly was already drugged just so Joe can't see it (but that's just a theory- A Game Theory). The story is still confusing either way and by the end you didn't know who you should have trusted (probably no one since Joe did save you but he refuses to report this potential assault hive to save the motel's rEpUtAtIoN). But anyway, I was really excited to see you play this and I hope you got the warm bath and the hug from your loved ones that you need.

Whether actual rape occurred or not, we'll never know. There's no mention of her clothing not being on...guy could have just been a creepy doing things in the closet while watching her. Which is honestly just as bad. I don't know. This entire episode had me way more anxious then the last episode, probably cause I'm a girl and I would be terrified in Holly's situation. In fact, I'd have just staid locked in my car till daytime. Or locked myself in the motel room using the furniture.
@testerwulf33572 жыл бұрын
Considering her clothes were still on and she didn't seem to freak out over anything like rape I don't think that's it and reading too much into it... I think the guy was just creepy. The weird noises were likely just her making noises in her sleep as she was heavily out of it..people on drugs do tend to make incoherent blabbering or noises. Joe did think you were on drugs, so this is more likely. What the guy wanted is kinda unknown as anything he could get other than watching you struggle he would of done and it'd be noticeable. If he wanted to rape you he would of and left..if he wanted to kidnap you he would of before you woke up! Ect. It doesn't make much sense.

Ugh. I love MatPat, but he somehow always manages to break the game, or just miss crucial plot points and events, then blame it on the game being unclear. Sometimes it is your fault, you just missed things Matt. With the checkov’s ghost lady, it is based on a true story as Mat said, so it’s just adding to the creepy atmosphere she really experienced. Oh, as far as where she was first drugged - I think she got drugged from the first drinks machine. I think Joe was good, as he ultimately saved her, and Yh it was probably a kidnapping or something for a drug ring. Maybe the game creator will weave one narrative between all five chapters. Or, if it is just five separate stories, that’s cool too. Either way, I’d definitely like to see a theory on this game.

I mean to be fair the stuff he missed were REALLY easy to miss..so that's just a fault of the game not him. Sometimes it's not the players fault when something is obscure or you have to look a very specific direction to see it (and it can occur without you looking). Though a lot of the time he's just confused, he doesn't mean to blame the game he just doesn't understand what's happening..a lot of things really can look like a fault of the game if you didn't know about them prior till you look into it and it's obvious it was your fault after.

You were allowed to move at the end there. The mic was there for your microphone to pick up your voice, not your character's movement. Before that moment it didn't pick anything up even though you were moving around and talking, you probably didn't have a mic hooked up or something. If you moved and watched the creep, you'd have seen that the manager punched the creep in the face when he was coming out from looking around the bathroom. Also, it's a bummer to hear that even though the cartoon was on low volume it still overpowered on the creeps voice saying "hello?" "Is someone there?". It's weird though that I didn't notice the flash of the creeps camera before he stood in front of your door. There are also "secret" scenes and clues in these games. There was supposed to be a scene of the creep at the gas station sabotaging your car and running away to his van parked on the road when you came out, but it probably didn't happen cuz you weren't at the right pump to have him activate.

The guy who was breaking into your apartment, you can actually see him in some early parts of the episode like even since the gas station. At first you will see him walking away from your car and returning to his van. He's the one responsible for breaking down your car.
@Tay202 жыл бұрын
That actually was someone else. The motel guy has a pink car. And you can see that car driving slowly in front of you to confirm that the other guy sabotaged your car successfully. He can tell because your lights are flickering, so he speeds off to set the logs in place.. and then off to the motel.

This gave me so much anxiety! This is one of the many reasons I won't travel by myself anymore. There's too many weirdos that want to harass or hurt women. Several years ago I had to take a technician licensing test, and of course it was in the middle of nowhere. I had no car, so I took Greyhound. I started on a bus, but had to transfer to a large van. I was dropped off, and had to wake a mile or so to take the test. After the test I had several hours to wait until my return trip. I thought about renting a room to get some sleep, but decided to sit on the bench where I was dropped off. I tried not to get too anxious while waiting for the van. Thankfully nothing happened. Sometimes I'll randomly remember this trip, and think about creepy things that could have happened.

Awesome playthrough- absolute lightning speed for y'all, i'm proud (though I do love the longer let's plays too). I've already seen a couple of comments about this, but I really just wanted to bring up how differently men seem to react to the overall situation/story presented- it's understandable, but still kind of bizarre to me that it hasn't seemed to click for male players in a lot of the videos I've watched. As a woman you kind of get it beat into your skull that if you get stuck in a situation like this, then that kind of might be it for you. There are so many tiny red flags that really don't seem to register for a lot of the people I've watched play this particular chapter. The story of a woman being killed in a 'car accident' really seemed to me like a sexual assault followed by murder story that just got toned down/ used as a cover up. The fact that the manager chose not to report anything to the police (I'm pretty sure a lot of colleges (used to?) do the same thing with sexual assault cases for a number of reasons- i may not be right about that but it sounds pretty in character). And especially the part where the guy outside started yelling "pretty lady- open the door"- because the second that you know that it for some reason has to do with the fact that you're a woman there's a whole new world of screwed up possibilities that become a lot more likely than being murdered or forced to join a cult. Either way, I really liked the playthrough- hope y'all do more in the future!

Going off what I understand of the game, she went to the gas station and while she was inside, the guy told her people go missing when they travel along the route she was headed on. If you're quick you can see someone cutting the wires on her car when she's paying for the gas to cause it to break down when she stops the car later along the road. The guy who picked her up clearly knows the area is dangerous and hints there are bad people around by telling her not to bother anyone. He probably dropped her at the motel hoping she'd be safe with the Front Desk Guy (I don't remember his name). He clearly was freaked out by whatever is going on and didn't want to interfere too much. Front Desk Guy hints the people who stay at his motel aren't exactly the nicest and to keep quiet, probably to protect her so they won't know she's there for her safety. This isn't a reputable place as we saw by the sign in the window. Someone staying there plants a coffee machine that they can easily take down later. They did it so smoothly and quickly that they've probably has practice with this same bit. I think guests getting drugged is a common event due to the fact that Front Desk Guy says he thinks he had a sober guest "for once" which infers this happens often. He also had pills ready to help. The fact he realised what was happening and suddenly got protective shows he realised what was happening to her and she was about to get hurt in some way. He tells her to hide and not open the door because he knows they're coming for her and wants to stop them, even if it's just this once. I think this is a human trafficking scheme. They'd have someone at the gas station at the ready to pick a victim, they'd have a trap along the road to make sure the car had to stop and they had to get help. They'd cut the wires for good measure if they could. They knew they'd have to hitchhike or walk to the nearest place with a phone: the motel. They'd drug the coffee machine (and I'm guessing they may have tampered with some of the stuff in the vending machine) to get the victim sedated. They'd probably hear them freaking out and then wait for them to pass out, then go to their room and take them away. But that's just a theory...

Yes! Love mat pat but I don’t think he realised the implications of being drugged and finding a man in the closet after, esp bc someone commented that joe having “heard weird sounds from the room” alluded to the character being SA’d. He also seems to be somehow missing the important things in the bg (someone leaving your car at the gas station, the man going into the room next to the coffee machine) which provides a LOT of context for what’s actually happening. I was kinda shocked when matpat said he would’ve thought the logs thing was a ploy by tow trucks to get money (or smth similar) bc my immediate thought was kidnaping and or rape (as so many stories from women have proven) along with the things you mentioned it really is jarring to see the difference.
@deepseasquid79612 жыл бұрын
As an afab I feel quite differently, actually, but that is probably because I grew up in a country where it is extremely safe to walk around at night, even if youre a woman. In my country there aren't really motels like these either because how close every city and town is to each other (I live in a small country with little forests). Quite interesting to see how it's in other countries though
@testerwulf33572 жыл бұрын
I don't think this is specifically a afab vs amab thing..it literally just depends on where you're raised and how you're raised. In safer areas people are more likely to say they're alone no matter gender, and not all guys are care free enough to say they're alone.

yeah, "climax" if the logs were set up on purpose, why didnt the kidnapper just come to get holly at the time? if the kidnapper was a kidnapper why would they hide in the closet the 2-3 hours holly was asleep? time to explain my theory. Not a kidnapper, but a r*pist This explains why they did nothing during the logs. Out in the open This explains the drugging You get drugged, go to bed, get r*ped so to add on to the first reason, Out in the open and not drugged. When you're asleep and drugged you wake up at 3. WHY WOULD THE KIDNAPPER JUST GO TO THE CLOSET? and why would you see the closet door closing Clearly you were r*ped and there was plenty of time to do so! Joe even mentions it, "goofy noises" It's really just understandable and not understandable Also heres some minor backup details the part where the guy busts in he calls her pretty lady or something (i also cant tell due to it being dark but does the guy only have pants on) ok so here comes the question Why did he leave the room and want to break in? I don't exactly know but im assuming it was for holly to not scream or something but For a r*pist at that point what are you gonna do? im assuming backup plan was kidnapping so technically a kidnapper but im still unsure (if someone else understands better please explain) so thats what ive got. r*pist r*pes holly and this is probably an even bigger fear for girls considering i see comments like "as a girl we fear this" and i assume they don't understand but its not cool to know in the real world if the roles were reversed, nobody would care about this
