Curious but why not add another kid in the second row, fold one of the rear seats down and then ditch the thule roof box? Roof box is probably stripping at least 10% range. Edit: the 20in all terrain probably steal another 5-10%.
@hungarianhc5 ай бұрын
2 reasons... 1. CARGO! Our roofbox was FULL. Our frunk was FULL. We had snow skis, a pack n play for the baby, boots, helmets, etc. We were full to the brim. 2. Comfort - We have the luxury of not typically having 3 kids across in the middle seat, and it's better. They have more space, less fighting, etc. If they're happier in the car, that means we can drive farther without an "incident." We only use that roofbox for probably 4 to 5 trips a year... We use it for ski trips for the ski equipment, and then maybe once a year we'll do some kind of road trip w/ camping equipment or something else where we need the space. It probably does kill the range by 10% or so, but I don't really care that much... I can only drive so far before I need to stop and pee or have lunch or something so it's all good. We love the Thule!
@ayushmalpeddi27935 ай бұрын

If you get a monthly membership plan with Electrify America ($7.00/month) the cost per kW drops by $0.12 (usually it will be $0.36/kW). My wife opened the fuel bill last month.....$10....and that was for a carwash. Our RAV4 Prime which my wife drives about 10 miles a day still have 3/4 of a tank after 1-1/2 months. Yes, our electric bill has gone up, but not that bad.
@davidbergerson Жыл бұрын
As someone elese mentioned, if you give EA $7 a month, you save 12 cents per kWh. Normally the kWh is .48. There is one thing that is different from an EV and an ICE truck. With an ICE truck, your MPG is higher on the highway and lower MPG is in the city driving. With an EV, it is inverse. You get better 'mileage' at slower speeds than at faster speeds. I do not own a Rivian, just a Tesla. We have done 2400 miles in a similar trip to this one, we have done 1600 mile trips going north of this one. We have done 1200 mile trips in Florida. All of our trips average out from .10 to .12 per mile using the Tesla SuperChargers. It would be higher with EA because the cost per kWh is much higher and the efficiency of the truck is lower than a Tesla. I would suspect that it is probably closer to 18 to 22 cents per mile. Comparing that to a Silverado 5.3 and that will get about 17 mpg. If gas is $5 a gallon that is almost 30 cents per mile. I have found holes in the charging network and it is relatively easy to find. One, get off the major roads. Finding a charger in a remote area regardless of Tesla or Rivian or EA is hard. Two, the four corners. Once you get to Indian reserverations, finding a charger is extremely hard. Hope that helps.

Typically yes. It's fine but not always ideal since it goes very slow to get to that point.
