As a Saab driver this makes me very happy to see the Kyle is going back to the roots of his channel. I've followed his channel since 2009, which is long enough to know how he came up with his username. It's very fitting that he's putting the Saab back in Saabkyle04. I would have never imagined that his channel would have been this huge back then.

Glad to see you sticking to your roots. Been a viewer myself since your very first videos back at your dad's lot. You've always shown an interest in "special" cars, ones that tend to swim against the current in a time where all people are concerned about is tacky speed and style. From your Genesis, Fleetwood, Saab, and 300M... thanks for making "normal" cars more special for all of us.

Kyle that Saab is such a cool car! I love cars from the 97 to 2000 era. I have a 1999 Audi A4 and its such fun to drive. You mention the nice weighty feel to the steering and that is so reminiscent of cars from then, the feedback in the steering just isn't matched on newer cars like my Jag XF. I've always liked those convertibles and you got yourself a really nice car. Happy motoring! I can see how excited you are so I'm sure its going to bring you great enjoyment!

Kyle, I'm a big fan since 2011, and in my opinion you are the 'new age successor '(for lack a better phrase lol) to classic car guys like Wayne Carini , owner F40 Motorsports and host of 'Chasing Classic Cars', he really shows a love and respect for all classic cars and has been dealing , restoring and owning them for decades, and you have the same respect and adoration for these cars whether old or brand new, it was something that I found unique for a young guy in 2011 and now in 2016, and this will be fun to watch!

I owned the Saab 900se convertible. It still stands as one of my favourite cars, one of the few that made my heart race in anticipation of driving it even when it was my daily driver. If Saab was still here today I'd own a new one. It wasn't technically or mechanically the best of all the convertible cars I'd owned, but there was just something about it that made owning it a joy.

+Saabkyle04 another common fault with these is a crack in the firewall around the steering column. There is an aftermarket brace kit that can repair and reinforce this area. Well worth checking and doing but it's quite a major as the engine needs to be dropped out from memory.

Kyle: I must say I enjoyed this video! It is interesting what you did and went back and got your first car! You put a lot of effort into that search. I like the story behind it, and you had your friend tag along. I like the things involved with your journey. Thank you for sharing. I have been a long time viewer too. Wasn't GM partial owner at that time before they completely bought SAAB? I say that because that floor shifter looks like the same ones they used on Opels and Vauxhalls around that time. You are right about the vibration too. I own older cars and mechanic told me they will never be smooth like they were when they were new. I have a small vibration in my two Oldsmobiles. It does not happen all the time. I was impressed with how well your SAAB performed on the road trip.

Congratulations Kyle!!! Love the Saab you bought. my first car was also a Saab. 1996 900 S sedan 4 speed auto in green. I never drove a v6 Saab either though I heard through the grapevine that they were problematic. can't really say for sure though. If I were to buy another Saab I would get one with a Turbo and a manual transmission. I kinda like the Swedish generations myself like from the 80s, those were cool cars.

I had a black '96 900 se turbo 5-speed, during my junior and senior year of college. it had a lot of problems too but I also have some nostalgia for that car...despite the problems I enjoyed driving it. Something odd about it, I guess just how Saab's were always a bit unique and quirky is what I enjoyed about it. the night panel that turns off dash lights, ignition in the center console, and how there was only one small cup holder in the whole car. I have a '15 Accord now and while I love it, it's missing that "je ne sais quoi" that the Saab possessed.

Saabs are cool cars. Their interior is special and they look different. Very reliable too!
@Y10Q9 жыл бұрын
+eins they are not reliable. They do look different. I had a 9000 in the 90s and that thing was completely unreliable. Had it for about four months before I got fed up with it. I had a Land Cruiser back then too, and that thing has never broken down or not started ever. But it got 9mpg and I sold it too within a few months. But in all that time I had one appliance that always worked, a 1990 Subaru Legacy, which I thought that it looked nice, which is why I got the 9000 looked similar. But boy was that SAAB unreliable. Fuck. I kept that Subaru till 2013, and th

+Y10Q Did it ever strike you that you got hold of a bad example? The 9000 is one of the more reliable cars money can buy, esoically the eninge, they are absolutely bulletproof!
@Y10Q9 жыл бұрын
Viktor Jakobsson nope, I was always into Volvo, Saab, Subaru , weird looking vehicles. But Saab did something in the mid to late 90s and completely fucked their cars. So no, SAAB aren't something I consider reliable anymore. That 9000 was the last SAAB I ever owned or drove. It left a bitter taste in my mouth, cause I incurred a $2k loss on it. It was a nice car when it worked. I can see why someone would have a sentimental attachment to one.
@viktorjjakobsson97109 жыл бұрын
Personally I like the 900 more than the 9k:s. But the 9000 are known for their reliability, honestly. Like I said before you most likely got a bad one, I have one myself and the only thing that has broken costed me 40$ to fix. The 9000 was the last car Saab produced before GM got involved, most people consider it the last real saab (myself exluded). Out of curiosity, what car do you drive now?
