Through the mystery of KZbin algorithms, this popped up in my feed this morning. I live in the Council Bluffs area. The history of Mormons in this area is well documented and embraced, but i had never heard of the Pella company. It was fun riding along with you on this leg of your adventure. I have driven a lot of country roads in western Iowa and minimum maintenance roads are fun when dry, but nightmares after a rain or when the ice goes out in the spring! You’ll never find nicer people than Iowans.

I can agree with all you said. I got pulled over TWICE on this leg of the journey because the local farmer daw me drive slow and pull over and thought I was lost. Nope! I was just a history nerd filming a KZbin video. The road trip series does continue following this wagon train through to Council Bluffs. I'm still working on Lewis to Winterset edits. Takes me a bit to get through the 200+ hours of content I film on these book tours, haha. I ope you pick up a copy of the diary. It may enrich your understanding of the people who came through.
