Definitely worth a visit. Re: Sights in Potsdam: Some six years ago we happened to find a little gem hidden in the beechwoods nearby, the small island Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island) where peacocks still roam about, there is a mock rococo castle, old oaks and wild onions in springtime. Very nice. A 2-car ferry takes you there on foot across maybe 40 metres of lake, and the first thing to see upon landing is a sign: Toilets 0,02 km :-D No traffic, walking restricted to paths, in principle no food service, no camping. Common disadvantage in Germany for Tesla, that the Superchargers are almost always in locations that you have to exit the motorway for. Ionity is generally placed more conveniently, but they only have 4-6 stalls in most German locations. EnBW's alpitronic Hyperchargers are also quite reliable and fast, and they are in pit stop locations, but again, they only have 2 or 4 HPC outlets except for some places like e.g. Ulm. They're worth a try, though, if you want to have more flexibility in choosing your stops...

The "pit stop problem" you mention around 14:50 actually has to do with legal regulations regarding who can operate what at highway rest areas or road houses. These "Autohöfe" are operated completely independent from the autobahn itself, therefore, it might be easier for Tesla to build a supercharger there.

Hi Bjørn, nice to see you driving in Germany on the Autobahn. You passed "Hermsdorfer Kreuz", which I also do two til three times a week. I work in Jena and live in Gera. Anyway, I remember some years ago my girlfriend, our kids and me hired a Renault Zoë. We wanted the car only for a test drive on a friday. But the salesman was not that much convinced when it came to electromobility. He said that nobody wanted to buy that car. (One or two years later it became the most selling car in Germany). So he had nothing against our wish to test the car the whole weekend. For free. It was so amazing! And the first charging stop was at...guess what... Münchberg 😉 Have a nice trip to Slovenia! 0:32 stunning you guys get 3 phase AC for charging in Europe. Only 16 amps for 10 kW. It's such a shame that 3 phase is not part of J1772 standard in North America. 3 phase is available in every industrial and commercial building here.
@adrianguggisberg36563 жыл бұрын
That's because almost all households in Europe have 3-Phase 230/400V power, Split-Phase wiring doesn't exist. Therefore almost all home chargers are 3-Phase and almost all current EV's are equipped for 11kW or 22kW 3-Phase charging. There are 3-Phase chargers available in the US, but they only make sense for commercial vehicles, because regular EVs are equipped for Split-Phase rather than 3-Phase power. The obvious reason being that all US homes are only Split-Phase wired.

In the last 2 months I had 3 times when I stopped to refuel at the Autobahn, when the pump didn't work. All 3 occasions it was due to the EC payment system not working, and there was a sign put up telling you had to go inside first to get the pump "unlocked" (if you happened to carry enough cash). On the last occasion the warning sticker was already faded so I must be quite some time the EC payment system wasn't working.... Being dutch I find that truly incredible.
