The scenery was awesome. I'm 70 and don't like to go fast or ride trails that are too technical. My wife and I are heading west in June with our Honda pioneer 500 to do some exploring. Silverton is moved to the top of the list because of this video. It just depends on how much snow is still in the higher elevations.

You're going to love Silverton! Your Honda Pioneer will handle the trails with ease. We met a couple that had a Kubota sxs. I didn't know Kubota made sxs's! That's what's nice about Silverton, the main trails are user friendly, and the scenery is unbelievable! We did take some side roads that were pretty hairy but, that's something you can decide to do if you want. Thanks for watching and make sure you drive to Durango and ride the train. Amazing video! Because of this, Silverton, CO is at the top of the list! I genuinely enjoyed watching your video. Keep it up brother! How difficult was it finding parking? I have a 20 foot trailer so would you have any recommendations?? This whole video was from where you parked in the beginning?

Yes. We road right from our airbnb, through the town and to the trails everyday we were there. It was a blast! I hate to tell you this but as of Oct 12th, 2021, no ATV's, OHV's or unlicensed dirt bikes are allowed in the Town limits. The best thing to do is to call the Silverton Chamber of Commerce. They should know where the staging areas are for parking your trailer. Thanks for watching Ryan and let us know about the changes!!

So is “staging” a term I should be looking for when it comes to trails and UTV parking? I’m new to this game. I’m from Pittsburgh and we are limited with trails here lol. Recommend anything close to my coast that you have done? I will absolutely update you on Silverton

@@ryanwoodfpv Staging or parking. Staging is a term they use for parking and unloading. Hatfield - McCoy trails is about 200 miles from Pittsburgh. It's an awesome trail system! That's the next big adventure for us. You can rent sxs if you don't want to haul your own that far. All different types of trails for every skill level and there maintained on a regular basis. Stay tuned!

Appears as of October 2021 the citizens of Silverton voted NO to allow UTVs/ATVs to operate within the city limits

@@vforce7001 I did some searching after watching this video earlier. I remember a friend of mine was out there last summer and there was a lot of talk about. October 12, 2021 voted NO to OHV within. That takes care of myself vacationing there. My trailer is too big to trailer to trailheads. Tin Cup residents at Taylor Park are trying to get Tin Cup blocked off as well

Yep. I was just in this area on the 4th-the 10th. Lake city still allows SXS in their town though. I know where I’ll be parking to explore this area and spending all my money the next time I come back.

Yep. Silverton has gone full Nazi on ATVs/UTVs. Local police strictly enforce all relevant laws which include no riding in town.

I thought the black top roads were illegal for an ohv? Everything we see says you can't be on them?

What time of year did you go and what were the temps? Any road closures due to snow?

We went during the summer, August. Daytime temps were in the low 60's to 70's. Early mornings cold, low 50's. No road closures anywhere. It rained a few times during the day but never enough to put a damper on things. Snow off to the side of the trail in the higher elevations.

Hey Kirk Sounds like its' time for you to take a road trip! Silverton is so beautiful and worth the drive. It took us 2 days from southern calif to get there. We spent the night in Flagstaff Arizona and drove from there to Silverton. Thanks so much for watching and your comment!

You're lucky that dog didn't open you up! Those are dogs that are left with the sheep to defend the flock from predators. There are signs all over telling you to not approach the dogs, don't appear to be a threat to the sheep, etc.
