Jason seems like a really good dude, with some good advice.

The side by side invasion will eventually get a lot of trails closed. We are seeing it. Way to easy for someone from Detroit with a credit card and a half hour introduction and off they go. Guys that started this off road trails did it with mules and hard work. Guys that build their own stuff do the same. Flash your credit card and ..........

100% agree! Jeeps and bikes have worked for decades to keep trails open. Sxs are working their hardest to get them closed. 700 miles last year in Moab with another 400 this year on the docket. I’ve gone down and yelled at the rental company in Ouray for not teaching these people better before the cash grab. All you need to be a sxs driver, credit card and a case of keystone light to throw the cans all over the trail. Sxs need to be taxed 100% with the proceeds going to stay on trail or leave no trace. 0% tolerance for sxs drivers.

@@AdventureAryck I used to think this same way. Been wheeling since the mid 70's and currently own a rock crawler YJ. But I also have a Yamaha YXZ that is a blast. The thing is, it doesn't take much to buy a Jeep either. Anyone can go buy one, and used ones can be cheaper than a SxS. I've seen plenty of idiots in 4x4 vehicles doing stupid stuff too. You really can't say all SxS drivers are bad anymore than you can say all 4x4 drivers are. That is a bad way of thinking and just gives ammo to the enviro-nazis. I also think many SxS's are like PWC's (JetSki, SeaDoo, etc) are to boats. Rentals are definitely a big problem as the (most) rental companies don't care about anything but making a buck. There really needs to be a class taken before you are allowed to rent one. Because of the performance of SxS's I know why drivers are tempted to tear up the trails and go off trail. Not sure of the solution but I don't think a tax (I'm against any extra taxes on anything) will help.

Man I worked at Ice/ Rock Pirates for 5 years. Hope Jason is doing alright, Hope they keep letting side by sides on the roads in town. Draws alot of water to the town. Silverton needs something besides the train and backcountry skiing. Prettiest place on Earth. If anyone from town read this, Henry says Hi

Went to the alpine loop in September. Was amazing. But watch out for idiots. Was almost killed twice near Lake city. From people hugging the inside.

We had several cross over to hug the edge on OUR side?

He mentioned a debris field after a crash….. it is always a cooler(s) ice and beer. Since I am not a drinker…. My debris field is usually a bunch of cuss-words floating around 😜 They won’t respect their riding areas there until they are gone. Actually the people that do respect it will have to suffer for the actions of the few who don’t care in the first place. It’s the same anywhere.

Is there public parking outside of town

Unfortunately the side by sides have already caused efforts to close roads and some closed in the southeast that have been used for decades by those on two wheels with no noticeable damage Now waist deep ruts etc etc and theyre using trout in the streams etc and the silt from the side by sides to close down areas. The same will come to the loop eventually.

I am glad this seems to be common knowledge - I felt this was going to cause much more controversy than it has so far?

Wow, Imogene is on the forbidden list? I can see Black Bear or Poughkeepsie...

The way he explained is not how rugged the trail is, but frequency of incidents. They pull a lot of people off the side of trails that really seem tame.

What's wrong with Imogene?
@MotoGiant Жыл бұрын
guessing the narrow sections, and the fact people have no sense - maybe just the sheer numbers of jeeps crashing on Imogene?
@danielpittman8894 ай бұрын
That was my question. Have to assume it's having to pass oncoming traffic on the narrow sections. There's nothing that requires advanced skills, but consequences for a rookie mistake can be quite severe.

Atv madness in ariz has destroyed most of the side roads in the forest and desert! Jeeps do not cut it on these trails! I sold my Jeep before I destroyed it!

The plague of tourism has driven me as a native off the trails. It sucks sitting in a parking lot on alpine loop with nobody from here. I ride dirt bikes and have seen many single track trails down lower turn into roads from the side by sides. The sooner they ban side by sides the better. Tourists have ruined Colorado Tourists have no investment in the area they have a good time and leave their damage for the locals to deal with.
@domnicclassi38234 ай бұрын
The side x sides are eating the trails up. Not all trails are maintained. Some of my favorite jeep trails are extremely technical now. Some trails I will not go back to.

His right of way guidance is simpleminded. Theres a lot of nuance in that issue as most of us know. If somebody is pointed uphill picking their nose taking pictures, trying to figure out what gear to be in or too scared to competently get going im not waiting. Ive seen thousands of idiot tourist moves, on a moto i dont hang around to see the full texas dimwit show. See ya , bye.

Agreed. I have a really good example of that in the previous video I made that KZbin has hidden :)
