It's surprising honestly. I've never raced anyone in my Sonata, but there are a few vids in my FB group of N Lines keeping up with and occasionally beating the V8 muscle trio. Pretty cool given "it's just a Hyundai" lol.

I have a 2024 Sonata N -Line for about a week now. I've trying to get used to the power this car has. I'm 72 years old, so I will not be drag racing a Mustang or a Camaro from the stoplight. I've retied from racing about 35 years ago. This car is not made for a heavy foot. I've yet to spin the tires, and I'm still having a lot of fun. She rides well, she's quiet, she stops very well, and she handles good for a big car. Once you're already going, and you step on the gas while going 55mph to 65 mph on a highway, there' is no tire spin, the car just pins your back against the seat. Brings back a lot of memories for me.

Currently leasing a ‘23 Sonata NLine & so pleased with it that I’m looking forward to leasing a ‘25 next year along with the GV70 Sport we’re about to sign on lease. Coming from Infiniti and Lexus/Toyota, although it’s missing a few luxurious amenities to which I’m accustomed, I’m pleased with the overall package for the money. I’ve whipped quite a few Scat Packs, older M4s, etc as a true sleeper. Many journalists mention the lack of LSD but even when I’m jumping off the line against others, I’ve never had much of an issue with controlling the throttle and getting instant grip. My only issue is the brakes need upgrading from OEM b’c the front pads don’t last at all (changed @12k & 22k mi) even as I typically engine brake at every opportunity; the service manager even admitted they’re not “beefy” enough, but otherwise it’s a solid sedan and a huge win given the power versus the new Accord, Camry, Honda, etc. Other issue is Hyundai’s paint is still “fragile” and if I wasn’t leasing, I would’ve had PPF done, as I drive ~mph on highways and rock chips tear it up.
@spathotan
@spathotan 3 ай бұрын
A lot of reviewers and journalist harp about how necessary LSDs are in FWD cars. I have a 23 Stage 1 GLI, roughly 300hp/400tq. And the only time I feel the LSD doing work is with traction control "off" and going 8/10ths around a sharp turn. In a daily driver you like to throw around now and then its not necessary at all, it wont be missed.

I agree, sedans are still awesome! I am going to get the 2024 Sonata Limited for my daily driver in a month or so. I currently have a 2012 Sonata Limited, and it’s so comfortable to drive. The only reason that I’m upgrading is for the hybrid mpg savings, and the newer tech. I have a Tacoma for off roading and truck things, but I don’t like to daily drive it. I still prefer to drive a sedan over an SUV or truck for my daily, and I travel a lot for work. The 2024 Limited has a power passenger seat, but no lumbar adjustment for the passenger. My 73 y/o mom is comfortable in my current 2012 Limited, so I’m hoping that will be the same for the 2024.

I've had mine for almost 2 months I have 5,000 miles right now. The car has a break in period the transmission and engine might be a little jerky but once everything is broken is it's very very smooth, I've never had a issue with throttle response because I have a cold air intake since I bought the car. The car has been fantastic and fun to drive, 13.9 on the quarter mile, and 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, personally took it to the track and the launch control is fun.

I got mine back in march. Did a roadtrip through arizona all the way to california and only had to get gas twice. Once in cali as i arrived, and once as i left. I have the same complaint about the tires. Those are absolutely getting swapped out once i start taking mine to the track. Mine was 42k out the door including the 10 year extended warranty which im already having to use thanks to my sunroof suddenly not working 3 months into owning the car. Hyundai definitely still has some quality control issues including the driver side bumper clips not holding the bumper properly (mine sticks out next to the headlight about an inch, only on the driver side)

I own the 2022 and my son owns the 2024, one gripe about the new one is in mid day son the screens can get washed out by the sun, having a lip over the screens would have been a great touch. Also the lack of back AC vents is more of a problem than you might think. Otherwise he loves it. I prefer the dash on my 2022, not because it's mine, but because I like the inlaid gauge cluster much better. Great review. Cheers!

I have a '23 Sonata N-Line. Got a few bolt-ons and is tuned. It's a ridiculously fun car for what it is. Super comfortable, practical, low key, but has the power when you want it. I will say, the car desperately needs a LSD and stickier tires, the Pirellis just suck. Constantly chirping tires gets annoying sometimes. The car hates traction at low speeds. Personally, I do prefer my "catfish" styling over the new design. Otherwise it's the best car I've ever owned.

I have the 24 n-line and my traction is probably just as bad. The TCS triggers pretty much anytime you go flat out on the gas while under 15mph. The car automatically switches between 1st and 2nd gear at 8-10mph, which in stop and go traffic feels like getting punched in the back repeatedly.

A couple changes I noticed compared to my 2021. Mine has vents in the rear in the console. I have a spare tire in the trunk. Definitely prefer the switches on the HVAC of mine, compared to the capacitive buttons which don't allow for any muscle memory, requiring taking your eyes off the road to adjust. Need to look into getting full screen Android Auto. Looks like the new cars support it, but not some older ones. I'll have to check for updates to the infotainment. For the most part, I have no complaints about the transmission. Some low speed issues like in stop and go traffic. But it's pretty smooth overall. Shifts are clean and not jerky at all.

The reason that a lot of Kia/Hyundai products are lacking in phone connections is supposedly due to using older computing hardware. Although my '22 Rio was the first model to have wireless CarPlay/Android Auto which makes it more of a crime that they killed it off. With Hyundai's DCT's, it's best to put them into sport mode. It engages the clutch packs more aggressively which prevents unnecessary slippage, & in turn will be way less jerky. Same goes for their original 7spd DCT. Downside is it uses more gas obv, but it's an N-Line so might as well drive it as intended anyways. The VW DSG in my 24 Audi Allroad is much smoother than my old 7spd DCT that was in my GT Sport. It's a wet style just like the Sonata has. Audi doesn't call it DSG tho, like Tiptronic or something lol

Rear heated seats? Cooled seats? Automatic wipers? Oh yeah. Just a better package overall, and to be fair the USA one is already great, the Canadian one is a bargain. Also, I'm very glad emily is getting a lot more comfortable on the camera. Ive said this before but she gives some good inputs and you two together have some really cute moments. The 2025 does add those factory rear air vents and is less MSRP cost as well two huge plusses, the next car I will buy most likely. My current 2006 V6 Sonata LX now has over 227K miles and should get me there by next Spring. I will probably add the spare tire at some point to the 2025. I was considering the Elantra N, but it had too many finicky things (octane manual settings, loud exhaust in CA, more sporty cop magnet., small gas tankh and hard plastic interior) for me plus I like the Sonata size and it has served me well . I don't need no overly expensive point A to B back to A and some road tips car, I just need something that's reliable. fun to drive, handles ok and looks good.

You should do a 24 accord hybrid road trip. I have taken it twice from Dallas to Detroit straight 18 hour 1 way each time. It's very comfortable.

That DCT is probably the one thing that gives me pause about this car. For the same amount of money if not a bit less, I’d probably lean towards a Mazda3 Turbo with an automatic and AWD

I really enjoy the look of this car especially the front but the no air vents for the back passengers is a turn off. I’m also not a fan of the steering wheel. Besides looks is there a difference from the 23 model ?

It looks so modern and clean. Love the sharp lines and boxiness I personally don't like mat colors on economy cars. I feel like those colors should only be on luxury or sports cars. 🤷‍♂️

Did you actually manually verify the fuel economy for the trip? In my experience, Hyundai/Kia trip computers tend to overestimate mileage by 2-3mpg.

Got squealing tire citation yesterday... I'm sad because it wasn't just me. I flagged down a Dark Horse owner at a stop light on Woodward in a LT1 10 speed. We ended up taking off and I don't think either of us got through the intersection before the interceptor lights came on from the other side of the road. Luckily the cop was SUPER chill. Only wrote us for squealing tires. Never wished to be in a Tesla more than that moment lol. Question for you: how much was your squealing tire citation?

Hyundai and Toyota will give you every feature but still skimping on rear AC vents 🙃. But the n line had vents last generation, we need those vents in the south.

I thought the same thing until I bought the 2024. I had my girlfriend sit in the back to test and it turned out to be a non-issue. Cooled down really fast back there on a 95 degree day. And we get INTENSE sun in Denver at a mile high plus. That being said, it's kinda silly they are standard in other regions outside the US. /shrug

If youre not paddle shifting, the ECU will get the car to the highest gear possible without stalling as soon as possible. I let my dad drive my elantra nline, and he said " Jesus, it just shifted 4 times in a 100 feet". Ill be doing 60 km/h in sport, down shift twice and ill be in thrid. Which is where youd expect a "sport" mode to be.
