-40C temperatures for a bit will also stabilize any dirt road until spring arrives. LOL

Lime bonds clay and prevents water permeation, less muddy and very little expansion/ contraction

I drove tractors on HS2 watering in that stuff for 'combined soil stabilisation' company in UK. Along with my ADT & 360 excavator licence work. Be good Dean & family!

Hope for high humidity. In WW2, the CeeBees found they could dynamite coral, scoop it up, roll it out on land, water it for a week with fresh seawater AND the coral polyps would continue to live and grow the limestone into a solid block.

That’s pretty neat. 👍

Fun fact, hydrated lyme is also used for dust supression. And yes, water enhances the wanted effects of compaction / supression. Key is to mix it first then compact it down so it doesn't runoff

Where are you sourcing bulk hydrated lime in Saskatchewan? I really want to experiment with limecrete floors in parts of my shipping container home….
@ArkopiaYouTube26 күн бұрын
Haven’t found a local bulk source, just 50 pound bags for $22.50 at Earlys Farm And Garden Center.

Check with Lafarge, they have sourced bulk for builds and road projects. That is if you need a larger amount than a few 50lbs bags

I like the crushed concrete on sand. Guess I only needed the one part.

Trademark the process... call it DeanCrete™ This is actually a very similar process to building with HempCrete... the lime binder makes it strong, and over decades, absorbs CO2 from the air and calcifies, becoming like rock... you are actually sequestering carbon with your road...

It is not common process around here for some reason, but I didn’t invent this. It used to be common and maybe still is in other places. I’m going to try and make some bricks with the clay/lime mix. Lots of experiments going on around here 👍

Not sure this is going to work as intended, especially once wet. Keep us posted. They just did our grid road this summer I'm less than impressed

I built it today, and lime/clay reaction creates heat.

Would topping wirh water glass help in wet conditions?
