Mads Pedersen current World Champion / New Trek Émonda 2021 SLR 800
At the World Tour Team Trek Segafredo we could watch the mechanic Gauthier Verdonck building the new 2021 Trek Émonda SLR 800 for the current World Champion Mads Pedersen. The new frame is lighter, stiffer and more aerodynamic. All cables run completely inside the frame and only come out at the headset. With a frame weight of only 821g. Mads Pedersen rides frame height 58cm, the white paint requires a thicker coat of paint, dark colors are lighter.
The bike built here for Mads Pedersen weighs 7.23 kg fully equipped with SRAM Powermeter, two bottle holders, race number holder, computer mount and Shimano Dura Ace pedals.
For the world champion, Trek of course paints the frame with rainbow stripes, peppered with cool little details. Mads Pedersen uses a (even for Paris Roubaix) super thin handlebar tape. The stem and handlebars are not the latest Bontrager models, he wants to use exactly the same handlebar model he won the world championship with...never change a winning system...he hopes this will bring him luck and success in the future.

@@danaponik5276 gxp's preload system is a literal wavy washer. You must not work on bikes very often if you think that's better than the preload collars on SRAM bb30 cranks. If your bike and bb are new and perfect gxp works fine, but we all know that doesn't last.

Great build. Huge appreciation to builder. Friggin’ top notch with amazing attention to detail. Loved from 14:03 to 17:23. Down to the mm and degree. Great moment at 20:53 when he quietly acknowledges (and well deserved) a fine build. 🤜🏻🤛🏽😎🔥

I do that too, especially on flat mount surfaces where bits of paint can cause misalignment, except I use a facing tool instead of a file. Paint do get in the threads and using a tap is for good measure. In fact it's very common in road disc frames of any brand.

This is a man I would happily have index my gears - he seems completely at ease with the task at hand, an absolute pro. Why can't he work at my local bike shop ? What a privilege - your job involving building up the bike of the World Champion. Chapeau to you sir, and do please keep this excellent content coming. Perhaps next stop is to knock on the door of UAE team Emirates and have them build up a Colnago C64 for you ? Would be lovely to see a spot of Italian bling !!
