Do you know what the metallic ring he slid between the fork’s steerer tube and the upper bearing’s compression ring is? My SL7’s headset has made tons of clicking noises since it was new (about 8,000 miles ago), and I’m wondering if this is some sort of remedy?

It’s amazing how a Pro peloton team mechanic could build a new bike on the field just like that. These pro team mechanics gets no rest. They prepare the bikes before the race starts. Ride along the team car during the race to fix any mechanical. Then after the race. Cleans and inspect the bikes. Then rebuild it again if necessary or change the gearing setup for the next stage race.

@MS-bw7yt
@MS-bw7yt 3 жыл бұрын
@@11-inch in case you didn't know, also the Bsa Shell has to go into the carbon frame 😃 and threads inevitably introduce some deviation, because they need "room " to work. Trust me, I am engineer. Bsa is just a step backwards from a technical perspective, because frame manufactures sell you frames >3000$ and dont want to spend to money on getting some basic tolerancea right
@MS-bw7yt
@MS-bw7yt 3 жыл бұрын
With BSA you have 1. bearings which are pressfitted into the outer bottom bracket cups 2. the interface bottom bracket shell - carbon frame and then 3.the threads themselves. That are just more points to introduce misalignment compared to a direct pressfit solution. A good direct pressfit will be lighter, stiffer and more precise. The only difference: Threads will not creak even if they are done poorly

Probably the same issue a lot of companies struggle with: The diameters and roundness of the bottom bracket holes. Once one side is out of tolerance it is immediately recognisable when spinning the cranks. And they still sell these frames for thousands of euros/dollars.

A craftsman…oblivious to some of my antipodean brethren, enjoys the satisfaction of a job well done, takes pride in combining a disparate set of components and frame set together into what even its harshest critics concede is a thing of beauty. Whatever ones view as regards the brand, which I can agree with on a lot of points… don’t take them out on the professional bike mechanic, nor confuse his work with that of other individuals. You wouldn’t want everyone to tar you with the same brush of some arbitrary demographic, which would be unfair to you right, why take out your frustrations on someone, who anyone with the eyes to, can see does a great job, enjoys it, and, moreover, doesn’t spend inordinate amounts of time trolling. If you troll too much, you’re liable to lose the impact of the good that you say within the filler of the spurious, baseless chaff e.g. the criticism of phil gaimon…(based on what?) just my 2c. P.S. by “what”, I mean evidence, what you’ve witnessed the individual do for example, as opposed to saying, “well I used to race pro, therefore I can tell by someone’s bmi”, come on.

I thought at first its a standard shimano bb, which normally spins like in the video, but after the second time watching the build, I realised its a CeramicSpeed unit, and I was astounded. If you watch Canyons pro builds, each frame is X-Rayed. and thoroughly checked, tolarences for example, and that means that only good frames in all aspects get ridden by the Pros, I'd expect the same procedures from Bora-Hansgrohe. Or, maybe, its a faulty BB, who knows..

It's an amazing bike and a fantastic build, but I still prefer 'old school' mechanical shifting and rim brakes.

To all the noobs who said I was wrong about big name riders getting special forks and frames. You can clearly see this aint no stock consumer level carbon layup fork and frame.

Shit. The fork head does look different from a consumer level one. Are we all conned by Specialised? Spending all that top dollars thinking we are getting the same product?
