Thanks for your no-nonsense reviews. So many reviewers refuse to say why they don't like games and their rambling positivity gets on my tits. You get straight to the point and I love it. Keep up the good work.

About spit out my drink starting at the 7:32 mark. 😂 You nailed it. I got this game at a great deal a few years ago and pulled it out to do the solo game. Got about halfway through and asked myself, "What the hell am I doing?" It's just too much to be enjoyable.

Maybe I have to play it more, but my main issue with the game is that, in all it's choices, pillaging seems like THE thing everyone should be doing. Like, everything else is just a red herring once you can pillage the best loot.

Fun, refreshing review ( as directed by Guy Ritchie !). My favourite game though , especially with Norwegians - but yes primarily a solo experience. Enough of that though - someone please point me to the hypocrites - name names ! - I need controversy at the moment. Statues need to built to these people, then torn down and chucked in the harbour

I wish I liked Uwe Rosenberg games. Both him and Stephen Feld I just bounce off of. And I normally like heavy euros! CO2 was pretty neat. I love Anachrony and Black Angel. Brass and Anno 1800 both in my top 20 of all time. I just can't get into the Felds and the Uwes. I think it's partly in your particular point about the thematic disconnect with resource upgrading. Something like that is so easy to have a decent thematic explanation. Just communicate with your component designer for petes sake!

I'm surprised . I hate Agricola but love Feast. Feast has multiple options for victory. Agricola is so linear and forced I feel. Also the island boards in Feast are basically a must. The whole point of the game is to get as much passive income as possible and snowball with good actions to get ahead. My 1st game I got 45 points. 2nd game 100 points. I think there's a bit of a learning curve with this game. Also at 2 player there is so much interaction because you can get locked out completely of certain pathways if you your opponent stops you from taking certain actions.

Yep. Was watching the review from these ladies on Feast, one of them mentioned: 'Yes I don't quite like the pillaging bit.' Then shrugged it off and returned to mention how they love every aspect of it's theme. It reminds me strangely of these people who are currently tearing down statues from the Dutch Golden Age in my country, trying to erase what simply needs to be discussed. I say it is good that history is rewritten by those who stood on the other side of it, but when you throw away our original thinkers and artists, then we place our future in the enthusiasm and capricious ideals of our youth. History shows that she should be cherished and listened to, not followed blindly. But who reads books these days? I must stop drinking so much tea.
@BoardGameBollocks2 жыл бұрын
Makes you wonder what people in 200 years will tear down when they look at todays events.
@jasonc27842 жыл бұрын
The reason why many statues in the US are being removed is because a statue is a celebration of what that person stood for. What that person accomplished and dedicated their life for. In these cases, it's celebrating the defense of slavery. Removing or lessening the impact slavery had on people from history books and schools does remove it from discussion which wouldn't be a good choice.

I bought the reprint recently and they haven't printed the codes on the C deck. Not a dealbreaker but annoying. The advice, after you spend 80 quid on the game, is to make up for their error by printing an updated appendix. I asked on BGG if anybody knew if the publisher was going to offer replacement decks and my post was deleted. I'm not preparing myself to forgive them.

Certain publishers seem to feel that they must capitulate to modern sensibilities in order to avoid the appearance of cultural insensitivity and if compromising their games by ignoring inconvenient history keeps the social media pitchfork and torch mob away, so be it. What those publishers fail to realize is that giving in to minuscule acts of terrorism now will only lead to further acts of terrorism later. Stand your ground and tell anyone who doesn't want to buy your games because it features something that happened over a dozen centuries ago where they can put their money. The generation of people subjected to future erasures of inconvenient history can't thank you but they would if they could.

And it DOESN'T take 4 hours unless you play like you have 5 brain cells. Just because you have a lot of options doesn't mean it's overwhelming. And the rest of you "dislikes" is pretty much nonsense. Regarding that last thing you said: There is a big difference between what the Danes did to England and what Spain did to South American natives. It is so glaring that I have to question how long you even thought about this before you got angry. England and the English still exist. The native tribes no longer exist. Their cultures were systematically and almost completely wiped. It's the difference between war and genocide
@BoardGameBollocks Жыл бұрын
Absolute cobblers mate. Anglo Saxons were practically wiped out by the Danelaw. You should be ashamed.
@heinokunzelmann8967 Жыл бұрын
@@BoardGameBollocks No clue how true that is. Looked at Wikipedia for a bit and I didn't get the impression the Danes specifically set out to erase the Anglo-Saxons, it seemed like a regular, old war to me. But I guess at that point you're just splitting hairs. I think it should be pretty telling that a) we have contemporary documents from the losing side about that time and b) despite that it's the first time I've ever heard about it. Bottom line, people cared enough to make a stink about conquistadores in board games and none have made similar attempts about Vikings wiping out Anglo-Saxons. So I'm guessing that it isn't that serious. Feel free to disagree and get out there to change that
