Truck started losing air overnight a few days ago. Found the leak and it's the drivers side front airbag on the bottom of the bag like in your video. Hitting up fleetpride or Napa tomorrow to replace it. Thanks for the quick video on replacement man and thanks again for talking me out of that International a few months ago, I'm loving my t680 so far!

Considering the road chemicals and moisture exposure I would use permatex anti-seize on the bolt threads. Like finger nails on a chalk board, that bottom bolts needed a drop or two of motor oil. Like you, I don’t like Teflon tape and use high temp PTFE pipe sealant. Sold at a GM dealer, eBay and others. But one type works on an oil pressure gauge to coolant fitting. Also sold be Permatex. As a car dealer tech for 38+ years, I got into the habit of torquing the size, grade of bolt and material. Like you brass fitting, if 3/8” brass to brass, it’s average torqued would be 28-32 inch lbs. I have 3 sets of crows-feet wrenches to fit a short extention to a torque wrench. These charts were in machinist books, no online. But we all know that having every tool you need is impossible. I used to send in a SnapOn torque wrench to be re-certified, until one day the truck owner said it was too old and they did have parts for it. They offer me $100 trade-in for a new $380 one! Never bought another! Fix it, tell me if over, under or close! They used to tight needle nose pliers and serrate the edges for $5. It was time to quit, as I had stuff they had never seen. I told the SnapOn guy it was new in 1972, he said his dad was 12. Best of luck & stay safe! ASE Master Tech since 1978 - Retired

Great video I am doing all 4 of mine tomorrow before I got out
@benjaminjackson2310 Жыл бұрын
Very helpful, getting ready to do all four. On a side note though, it’s a very common misunderstanding that Teflon tape or pipe dope seals the threads, It doesn’t. It simply lubricates the threads so that you can get it tight enough that the threads seal against themselves. Try it with some grease in a pinch, even oil or anti seize. This is for pipe thread, “NPT”

Do you need any type of jack or jack stands?? One more thing inside the cab do you need to release the air?
@craigcross15042 жыл бұрын
No need for jack or jack stand. But you have to drop the suspension in the cab, or drain your air tanks. I heard of a guy who didn't release the air bag pressure. Well he went to the hospital and had facial reconstruction. So please drain that air.

Folding over the lines to kink them off doesn't always work. It won't work on my peterbilt because all the air goes thru the left rear bag and that's the problem one. I disconnected the lines and none would inflate after that

@barnesdrb2 жыл бұрын
did you do that without a jack? I didn't know that was possible.
@craigcross15042 жыл бұрын
No jack needed. MAKE sure you drain the air pressure.
