Steve was really the pioneer of YT automotive folks to check out of sites like MT to go it alone... . A few years ago he communicated how little MT was spending on his Junk Yard Gold series and obviously realized they needed him more than he needed Motor Trend. Steve has recently had some medical setbacks, but continues to share his vast automotive knowledge as he recuperates.

@@nowitsabadtime _Steve_ is the guy that found the car while doing his show Junkyard Gold, and showed it to them at the very start of this episode. He never made another appearance after the first few minutes. *_Frieburger_* is the older looking "main" host/brains of this show. He's the one *without* a beard, and usually wearing flip-flops/sandals with cargo shorts (although, in this episode he's got shoes on for once). *_Finnegan_* is the younger/"quieter" one with the ginger-ish looking beard, and has known and worked with Frieburger for ages. He tends to provide the comedy relief for the show, and occasionally contributes some genius ideas on how to creatively solve whatever problem they are dealing with at the time.

If you loose an intake pushrod, that cylinder will start pumping oil into the chambers and out the exhaust creating that exhaust smoke you guys were experiencing. Just replacing that pushrod (or removing the corresponding exhaust) will stop that smoke. You probably did not have to change that motor.

Just this week I was working on a '63 390 that didn't say "Thunderbird" on the valve covers...but it was in a Thunderbird. Next time, pull the distributor and turn the oil pump shaft with a drill before you even try to start the engine. That ensures prelube and prevents damage and is easy to do w an ordinary reversible drill, a 1/4 inch extension and a 5/16 socket for the oil pump shaft. No special tools needed at all.

At that point your just a tiny backfire from an all out engine fire. @tom64935 ай бұрын
Please, enlighten me on how the oil in the “2 cycle fuel” (no such thing btw, it’s literally the same fuel and you then add 2 stroke oil) is going to get from the cylinder, to the camshaft journals and rocker shaft…😂🤦♂️
@peterrenn63415 ай бұрын
@@tom6493 You're right about the non-lubrication of rocker shaft and cam but it would help a bit with bores and rings (could be what the original poster meant?) Oh and FYI premixed 2 stroke fuel IS a thing. Super-long shelf life and excellent for chainsaws etc. with only intermittent use.
