With my 2016 Roadking and now my 2018 Roadking I unplugged the old speedometer and plugged in the new one and the ECM transferred everything instantly.

The gear indicator is always on. So you can have time, mileage, trip A,B, or range on with the gear indicator.

Man it’s been so long I don’t remember. I think you use the blinker switches to go up and down.

Once you get it in the color change mode, you use the turn signals to change the color.

Yes it transfers. At night it’s great. The blue I have mine set on is easy on the eyes. But I went through the colors to find one that was easy on my eyes in the dark. The only issue is with the blue and red it’s set on I think I’m getting pulled over with the reflection on my handlebars. 😂

What year Roadking do you have? I have a 2005 and looking to install one of these also. The one for a 05 Road King comes with a data transfer cable to transfer all the data. From your video it didn't look like you had to do that with yours

Mine is a 16. Mine updated itself. But yes yours needs the transfer cable. It’s not difficult though. You plug the speedo into your data port under your seat with the transfer cable. If I can help let me know.

Thank you for watching. No I didn’t. If you feel you need to go ahead. But I didn’t change the wiring at all. All I did was unplug a plug and plug it back in so I wasn’t worried about crossing anything up.

Mine registered automatically. I think there is a certain year that it comes with a jumper wire to plug into the ecm to program the speedometer.

Nice video. I wonder if I could pick your brain ? I just got a used 2006 RK Classic which has a tank similar to yours. I can really read the fuel gauge cap. I can't tell if it works or not. I'm a newbie so I was surprised it wasn't a 2nd fill hole. I finally got it out and saw it was connected to a wire harness connector. Questions : a) is the right cap the only fill for both sides ? b) is the left cap only the fuel gauge ? c) what is the name & price of the speedometer you installed (can you share a link ?) d) how did you control (set) the color of illumination ? Yes the left side is the only gas cap. They quit using split tanks a long time ago they are all one piece now. So the left side is just the gauge. It is hard to read and kinda of useless. They do have this speedometer for your bike but it will be a differ part number cause it’s a little older bike and the computers are different. You control the colors with the blinker switches actually so jo remote or app. I will try to see if I can find the one for your year and get you a link.

I Have A 2007 Road King That I Plan On Installing The Same Gauge On, From My Understanding On The Speedo For My King I Have To Plug The New Speedo Into My Computers DLC Connector To Transfer The Mileage To The New Speedo I Noticed You Didnt Have To Do That On Your King What Year Is Your King, I'm Also Not Going To Have The Digital Fuel Gauge Read Out, Fuel Range For Miles Left In Tank, Or Gear Position I Dont Think The ECM Computer Supports That Data For That Year King But Thats Ok It's A Bad Ass Looking Gauge, Thanks For Any Imput Or Advice You May Have For Me 🤟🏼✌🏼

This bike was a 2016. Yes you will have to use the jumper wire to transfer your data. It will still be a big improvement over your stock gauge and will be easier to read. Thank you for watching!

Nope. Instructions said to just install the new one and it would program its self. I think on the older models you had to use a jumper to hook it up directly to the ecm but with the 2016 all I had to do was install it and plug it in and it was programmed.

What's up Steve? I just installed the same speedometer. Did you have a problem with it moving around? It's like the rubber seal isn't thick enough. Any suggestions?

I don’t have any problems with it at all. I guess check to see if the rubber seal in in place and didn’t move on you. Or maybe find some really thin weather stripping, or... wrapping gauges in electrical tap always seams to make them fit a little better sometimes.

@@yoboishifty2480 I found this. For the 2012 the speedometer comes with a data cable. You plug it into your ecm and the speedometer and it transfers the data and vin locks the speedometer. It said in the instructions that after 31.1 miles that the new speedometer will become fused to the ECM. Do you know if that has to be a continuous 31 miles all in one ride? Also did you have any issues with the fuel gage accuracy or did you have to do exactly what the instructions say and start with about 1/2 tank fuel?

I didn’t read the directions at all lol. I have had no issues. Mine worked out of the box. Fuel gauge is more accurate than the one on the tank and the odometer and trip all worked right away.

I bought this for my 2004 RK Classic about 3 years ago, work great--however when I was riding home last night the "ABS" light came on (it never did in the past} the issue is I have NO ABS on the bike, does anyone have any idea WHY this happened? I tried to correct by disconnecting and re-installing the main fuse--no improvements, the ABS light continues to stay on. any ideas/help is much appreciated --- thanks

I know they make one for almost all the years so if this one won’t work they make one just like it that will. It all depends if you have to plug it into the ecu first. I don’t with mine but I know on some years you do. Either way it isn’t difficult and they come with everything you need.

On my 08, you have plug the new speedo into the DLC with an included cable while the old speedo is still installed. Once you get to the DLC is probably adds 2 mins to the install.

Dont trust the gas remaining estimate. Depending on how you ride it will leave you stranded.
