Planks in the road is old-school from when people traveled in wagons. The planks helped make the road passable when there was bad weather. Without the planks the roads wouldn't be travelable during wet weather.

It mainly keeps the road or trail from eroding away. Usually high travel areas with little vegetation. Rain will wash out and leave "pot holes," getting bigger over time. Also in flood areas.

@seeker2962 жыл бұрын
it still helps with bad weather. When the road erodes or turns to mud, the planks are still supported by the land adjacent to the road, so they form a solid/stable surface to stand on. adds longevity as erosion develops

I haven’t played WoW since cataclysm but I still find myself watching videos about it all the time. Answer me honestly my friends, is it worth coming back to? Because with everything that’s happened since I stopped playing it seems like a dumbed down diluted version of the game
@propsko26896 жыл бұрын
when did you quit? It also depends on how you used to play the game. (pvp or pve, group or solo)
@AndyMHinchcliffe6 жыл бұрын
Propsko I quit a couple weeks after I hit 85 in cata dude. End game raiding never really grabbed me that much, I just did it when I had nothing left to do. I really enjoyed the grind of levelling up how I remember it. Also I played with my friends from vanilla - wrath. I think I’m more of a solo player (not the best thing in an mmo, I admit) but I still loved doing dungeons, I never really had time for raiding because I was a kid with school and homework to do 😂
@propsko26896 жыл бұрын
Well, end game raiding has become alot easier to get into. The questing has improved since wrath, but you'll get through them quicker, as the game isn't really about leveling anymore. The leveling is still alot of fun though, and there is so much more detail than before.

My #1 is the road in Ashenvale. After you leave Dark Shore, you're presented with this huge forest and the music just really sets the mood. MY TOP 10 WoW Roads- 10. Path of Glory (Hellfire Peninsula) relatively short, stretching from the Dark Portal to Hellfire Citadel, this road is patrolled by demons, demonic orcs, and is particullary infamous for it's ...paving material. 9. Path of the Titans (Dragonblight) probably the oldest road on this list, a wide avenue that rises up from the sea as an ancient shattered bridge, this leads to and through Wrymrest temple and dead-ends among the great walls of ice and rock that conceals the entrance to Crystalsong Valley. 8. Old Nelf Road (Darkshore, Ashenvale, Azshara) About half of the entire modern Kaldorei territories can be experienced along this walk through primal woodlands. The Felwood-Winterspring-Hyjal Road is most of the other half. 7. Suramar City Limits (Suramar) This broad semicircle of white marble is shorter than most others on this list, but demarcated the boundry between the nightborne capital and its outer wilds for 10,000 years. 6. King's Highway (Eastern Plagelands, Western Plaguelands, Tirisfal Glades, Silverpine Forest, Hillsbrad Foothills, Arathi Highlands) Starting at Strathholme and ending at Hammerfall, this on is probably the longest road on this list, it was once the life's blood of the kingdom of Lordaeran. Before the dark times. Before the Emp... er, Scourge. 5. Valley of the Four Winds. (Valley of the Four Winds) Stretching the length of the beautiful, (kinda) peaceful farmlands of Pandaria, don't miss the Halfhill markets for the freshest giant produce! 4. Stormwind Loop (Redridge Mountains, Elwyn Forest, Westfall, Duskwood) Serves the greatest living human kingdom much as it's northern counterpart the King's Highway once did. 3. Barrens Road (North-South Route) (Ashenvale, Barrens) Leads from verdant forests to a great (currently flooded) valley of One Thousand Needles, passing by miles and miles of savannah along the way. 2. Durator Run (Durator) From the Valley of Trials at the southern tip of the land, young orcs make their way north to the capital of Orgrimmar, passing by and through many important Durator locations along the way. Especially noteworthy from a visual standpoint is the harpy-infested cliffs just north of Razor Hill. 1. Stranglethorn Road (Duskwood, Stranglethorn Vale) GODDAMN DID I HATE HAVING TO RUN THIS THING ON MY WAY TO BOOTY BAY DURING CLASSIC ON A PVP SERVER

Looking forward to seeing what other things you see from exploring BfA. I know I've let myself get lost and forgotten about quests to look around. In the desert I found a troll exile camp with a journal you can read up in the south west mountains. Has a nice view of the ocean. And in Zuldazar that crescent moon shaped bay on the west coast has troll ruins with the Tortollan hanging out under water. Doubt I'm the first person to find these places, but they are definitely reasons to explore. Perhaps my favorite spot so far though is the cove just east of the port. Standing on the beach the view feels like it should be a postcard for Zandalar.

Often whilst travelling on land, i like to pan the camera down at character height. It gives a much nicer perspective of the grandness of each zone. When running around with your camera up in the sky looking down at your character, every thing looks a bit flat.

personal favourites from that list would be valley of the 4 winds, dun morogh and grizzly hills for the first time experience. I would have added my personal favourite the track up over the redridge mountain zone between burning steppes and swamp of sorrows, sadly it is a road with no mops, critters or enen gatherable stuff like mines or herbs I wish they would put a few surprises there at one point.
