One of my favorites is Un'goro Crater and the desert zones around it. You're traveling through his barren desert and suddenly you come across this huge crater with tall trees and lots of foilage, and when you travel down suddenly there's HUGE DINOSAURS. While not a single transition, I've also always loved the steady rise going from Howling Fjord -> Grizzly Hills -> Zul'Drak -> Storm Peaks. Every zone is a slightly higher elevation that culminates into the huge mountains of Storm Peaks.

To me one of the most nostalgic one has to be the transition from Elwynn Forest to Westfall. Man that brings me back.

The timbermaw hold that connects moonglade, felwood and wintersping is also a great transition.
@exmaarmaca6 жыл бұрын
The Duskwood and Stranglethorn transition is also cool, from a creepy forest there is a bridge that changes into a jungle. Also the felwood and winterspring transition through the timbermaw hold.
@rebeccadeal2560 Жыл бұрын
I feel like the various transitions into Duskwood deserve a mention. Most nostalgic for me was levelling for the first time as a human, getting a little too far across that river and everything from the sky to the music getting reaally sinister.

Stranglethorn whirpool kills you. The Darkshore one spins you around and drags you down into an underwater cave with a mini quest, which could be a pretty high transition spot in itself. Hadrian's wall was also the inspiration for Game of Thrones wall, so you can compare the GoT and WoW walls with eachother :)

Another good one for Vanilla nostalgia is the furbolg tunnels between felwood and winterspring. You were definitely meant to farm furbie rep until they would let you through, but I think everyone had that one guildie who had gotten hated with the furbolgs and was looking for help getting through.

Zangarmarsh and Nagrand were easily my two favourite zones in WoW back when Burning Crusade was the new xpac. Actually, even after WotLK, they were still my favourite zones... Zangarmarsh just has a serene and tranquil look to it, while nothing beats looking up at the night sky from Nagrand.

Hey Crendawg I know you're trying to make the point that Florida is one whole thing but most Floridians worth their salt would split the state much like Stranglethorn Vale, with the Panhandle in the north being very very different than the South Beach/Miami type Florida. Big Ass love from the South.

The Barrens transition looks like a rift valley. Rift valleys are caused by tectonic plates splitting and beginning to drift appart. Many have three "arms" of which two will merge and continue while the third becomes inactive but can still occasionally cause earthquakes.

i think that Barrens place is a rift or a gorge, canyon is more wide, even though canyon and gorge is formed over long time. Anyway not like there is an definition for when land is split by huge angry dragon flying over.

I'm late, but I think gorge and especially canyon are only correct if made by erosion. So here it'd be a rift or a chasm maybe

Fun story about the fissure that separates the north and south of the barrens; when I first started playing I fell in there and got stuck on one of the inner Rocks, and I waited for like 30 min for my friend to come and rescue me via his two seated flying mount(I didn’t really know about hearthstones and it didn’t cross his mind that I should use it). While I was waiting and we were laughing about how stupid I was I somehow managed to Aggro a raptor, which jumped in with me and attacked me, scaring the absolute shit out of me. Good times

I have to admit, as much as I love flying around and shorten travel time as much as possible - the immersion of traveling by feet and really _feel_ the environment and the transition between zones, the music and ambience - these are memories only available for players of classic, before flying was available from the beginning. Thank you very much for all these memories! Sorry, I mean - for these giant ass memories!

I remember back in classic. I was on my NE hunter somewhere in my high 20s. Around 30 or so. I was in the northern part of Redridge Mountains doing a quest and I saw the entrance into the Burning Steps. I saw magma elementals and orange spider recolors of the green ones I seen back in Teldrassil, until I accidentally pulled stuff for being too low level and ran away. They were skull level to me at the time.
