I'd go with the Losi. For me, the sensored motor holds a lot of weight. I really love the smooth startup of a sensored motor. I'm not an 8th scale racer, so having a ton of tuning options isn't really a big deal. It would be nice to have it be waterproof, but I have other waterproof vehicles and so long as the battery is out, and capacitors are discharged, you should be able to rinse dirt off (just make sure it's fully dried before putting batteries back in).

I have an OG typhon 6s that i love but i dont feel like it would be as competitive at the track. Razor RC done a shoot out between these 2 buggys a couple of weeks back, check out his thoughts. Basically both good buggys, he said the TLR Typhon was better if your looking for a basher buggy with capability towards some racing. Also the Typhon was more beginner friendly & a bit easier to drive, where as the Losi was not as durable. More suited to racing + more difficult to drive for less experienced drivers, a bit on the twitchy side. Unless you want a more dedecated race buggy, his pick would be the TLR Typhon.

I had the same decision to make a couple weeks ago I went with the Losi because it is strictly going on tracks only no bashing (couldn’t afford to build the kit so went with rtr) and I love it the main thing that made me go with it was that it takes 4s and that’s what everyone races I am surprised at the lack of tunability on the losi but the tlr shock towers are relatively cheap if you need the extra tuning

1/10 racing seems to be a segment where the RTRs just haven't encroached. If you want to race in 1/10, you will end up buying the kits and building them up. There just doesn't seem to be another path at the moment. I would suggest visiting the track and seeing what chassis others are running and starting there.

Couple guys in my local club started with the TLR tuned, it didn't take long for them to sell them and upgrade to HB's. They turned decent laps but the weight distribution and suspension tuning envelopes are not great. The diffs seemed to not hold up as well as a real race grade model, too. Sensorless drivetrains are also useless on track, both guys I know had hobbywing Xerun 1900 combos. They work ok for beginners, but for the money at the track I'd skip it and get a real kit.

If I was gonna get either one of those it would most likely be the Losi... the body half painted is sweet, the Typhon bodys just look odd... but, if i was getting an 8th scale buggy I honestly wouldn't get either... for bashing I'd not get a buggy at all...for racing I'd be looking elsewhere... The Losi is compatible with other parts from the non-RTR version, so that would be one route, in the long run a bit spendy.... but, the motor and ESC should be fine on that car unless you end up getting to where you're quite competitve.... sensored is definitely the way to go for racing. Theres a Kyosho rtr put that also looks legit, and is compatible with the MP10 current race kit for parts... I'd get either that or the losi over the Typhon.... maybe check that RTR option out. Honestly, how serious are you about trying racing? I'd recomend looking locally for a used race kit, Tekno are awesom, and X-ray , those 2 are popular here in my area... recent new model of Tekno released and Xray doing new cars yearly, theres likely an EV48 2.0 or 2.1 for cheap near you, or a 2023 XB8... You should have a radio and charger already... Keep us posted what u end up deciding, or if you start considering other options maybe make a follow up to this while you narrow it down, and let us know what you're considering given the feedback from this one...

Easy choice for me, between those two buggies, and it's the Losi. Because nitro. The Losi comes in a nitro version, the Arrma doesn't, and I am 100% full throttle on nitro. Electric just doesn't do anything for me. But I have no interest in another 1/8 buggy. I have an NB48 2.0 already.And I barely drive it. I can count on one hand the amount of times it's run in 2024. If we cross paths again and I have it with me I'll let you give it a rip I think you'll love it! And hey I might even be talked into selling you the NB48....maybe. If I was going to sell any of my RCs it's on the shortlist. Not actively looking to sell but I could probably be talked into it. You said you wanted to step up to a more race oriented buggy. Arrma will always be a basher IMO. I don't often see typhons on podiums. For this comparison I'd go Losi. Race oriented. Sensored. If you go Arrma you're going to upgrade to a sensored setup anyways. Heck, you're an RC guy, so you're still going to upgrade the Losi, and who cares about radios cuz you have better. I think if you're honest and admit you're probably going to upgrade the stock motor regardless of vehicle, you're doing a disservice to yourself by not checking out the team associated buggy. Yes it's a bit more expensive to begin with, but you aren't wasting money on a stock non sensored trash for racing setup in the arrma and the servos will be replaced anyways, the price difference shrinks and the Associated becomes a much stronger value. Especially if you're wanting race oriented over bash.
@RoadsideRC5 ай бұрын
That all makes sense! Truly wanting to go fast - get a proper race kit. But, the bulk of the RC market is RTRs, and I think the owners of these may also be interested in occasionally going to the track. Personally - that is where I am as well right now. 70% bash sessions, 30% having fun at the track. To have fun, I don't necessarily need to be the fastest. I get a lot of satisfaction by beating folks with "lesser" vehicles. :)
