Definitely a quick and cheap way to get FPV on a rc. I went the Walksnail route with 1/10 and 1/18 crawlers and although the video quality and range is top notch, you’re paying for it. I printed mounts to add 40mm fans over the video units for great airflow. Caddx recently released a small portable gimbal unit with us rc guys in mind. Just add your own camera and vtx.
@RoadsideRC14 күн бұрын
Nice! Yes - analog is the cheaper way to go...but I really want to go digital for the image quality.

Great video as always. That's a big difference parked in the chevelles old spot. How you like it? New Troy video, snow day in GA. Gonna be a great day. Cheers.
@RoadsideRC15 күн бұрын
Yes! Good eye! Chevelle is gone - but it has made room for the next generation. That is actually my son's car(!!!). He mowed grass for YEARS now saving up money. I have my eye on something to replace the Chevelle - but will let my son have the garage for right now. :)

@RoadsideRC very cool. Love the videos and knowledge you share. Have made multiple purchases on your recommendations and could not be happier. Have a good one.

So you can change channels on the camera? Could you run 2 of them and just switch channels for different camera views?

Yes! Good call. That is 100% possible.

I love a fpv crawler for sure 👍For me it's less about the crawler course and more about the garden adventure. Quite fun running the rc through lines and tracks that you couldn't otherwise use without fpv. With a crawler its easy to connect things with really crude ramps etc since they get get up over stuff so well. Analog is totally sufficient for slow crawling amd you can setup multiple cameras easily, really great fun imo.
@RoadsideRC13 күн бұрын
Thanks! I am curious about a multi-cam setup. What would you do?
@Robert-p6p3w13 күн бұрын
I mounted the fpv camera on top of a microservo using a y-splitter cable with the steering. That way I can see where I am turning. Also got a video receiver that outputs HDMI so I can drive from the living room tv. Only need to send the kids outside to flip me back over from time to time.
@RoadsideRC13 күн бұрын
Sounds great! Nice setup.

200mw heater essentially. they can handle quite high temps but the output goes down as temp goes up as well
@RoadsideRC15 күн бұрын
Yes sir! It is switchable to 50 and 100mw as well. For what we are doing, 200mw is most likely overkill. We aren't talking about doing anything long-range.

Another great video, I vote to try in a drift car and curious how it feels since you won’t feel any type of feedback but all based on Visual and how difficult it may be to maintain the drift.

@@RoadsideRC thx, in the early days i did a lot of fpv on my planes and heli's later flying drones etc. with the new rules i lost the fun and changing to cars and trucks. those cheap cameras have trouble with lightning when put inside a car. mounting on top and aim for the horizon 1/third from the top of the screen is the best for me. i like that the field of vieuw isnt to wide otherwise you loose dept presisin (cant look far enough). thats whay i use pan camera to look around sorry for my bad enlish, Greetings from the Netherlands

Coming from FPV drones, and just now getting into crawlers it is funny how much the two hobbies do not interact. For a crawler, to get the best experience + range (not needed), I would suggest a digital system on a gimbal. A little more pricey but a whole better view.
@RoadsideRC15 күн бұрын
100% - we have multiple DJI setups for the FPV drones that my son flies - but having a hard time justifying the price for something like this...especially when we CRASH them. Would really need a cage around the digital system.
@lokitexas115 күн бұрын
@@RoadsideRC For sure. Also, the heat from DJI VTX on a slow moving truck is another factor. They are made for air flow cooling...lol not getting that on a crawler. Love to see your videos, reminds me of my son and I. Keep it up.
@RoadsideRC15 күн бұрын
@lokitexas1 Thanks! Yes - I'm thinking of how I can mount a fan.
@duatamn2415 күн бұрын
Anymore, digital is cheap. I bought a vista for 60 bucks and put it on a basic 9g servo for crawling. Works great. I even made it turnaround when I reverse. Mt12 ftw
@RoadsideRC15 күн бұрын
Yeah - we have O3 units for our drones. Hoping some of those drop in price now that they released the O4.
@duatamn2415 күн бұрын
@RoadsideRC @RoadsideRC I'm your guy then lol ill sell you some o3s (I have at least 4). I'm selling them because you need a separate arm signal to get full power. They aren't like the vistas or the o4. Both of those you can manually turn up power with no arm signal!

Id like ro have one on each side of the door tops and a split screen. Thst way you can see the front tires.. unless you use a different body 🤷♂️

Watching now...don't mount it to the body.though...make a mezzanine floor for it and mount the camera to the floor. Well done though fpv is fun. 😊

Why not mount it to the body? Worked as an easy start this time. I have since printed a cage for it to sit in.

or how about so it is even more realistic mount it to a spring that is mounted like a seat would be to the base/chasis then it can bob and sway just a little when its going over the tough stuff ,
