Great vid, great channel! I have a noob question though, if I may (which you kind of answered in the video I think). I have a Quantum Maverick MT and the manual says it can run on 2S or 3S LiPo, but @ 7.2v… what does it mean to have a 3S run @ 7.2v? The exact excerpt in the manual says “3S LiPo or 9 NI-MH : 540 or 550 size motor ≥ 18T RPM < 2000 @ 7.2v”… If you can help me make sense of that I would be so grateful and will leave you a Thanks donation (: Just trying to learn here so I don’t have to ask my husband everything!

Hi there! That is some unusual wording in that manual. It would be easy to get confused by that. It is giving a motor rating for which 3S lipo is safe to run. It is suggesting more than an 18T motor for using a 3S lipo. The truck comes with a 15T motor - so that means it does not recommend using 3S.

Great info Troy especially pointing out how you can get a less powerful battery and sort of de-tune the car for a longer life. Interesting how some of this parallels what is done in 1:1 cars. Thanks for all your videos Troy and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

I mostly use Zeee brand batteries at this point. I run their standard shorty 2C batteries in 5500mah with 100C discharge for turbo/boost heavy and bashing. And their small cute little 2C 1800-2200mah 50c batteries when I just wanna slide around the kitchen or crawl. :D The smaller ones have yet to fail during turbo/boost for me but I dont hit it all the time on my slick floors. I do miss the weight the shortys bring though.

Hai bro.. what is different betry lipo 4s with 15.2v vs 16.8v, my zop betry 4s he can't go to fully charge he just stuck at 15.77v
@RoadsideRC21 күн бұрын
Hello. A lipo battery should charge to 4.2V per cell. A 4S lipo is 4 individual cells x 4.2V per cell = 16.8V fully charged. At storage charge, a cell should be around 3.8-3.9V. 3.9V x 4 cells = 15.6V. Are you sure your charger is set to full charge, not storage charge?

I’m just getting into the hobby and purchased a used Arrma Granite. What battery would you recommend ? Nothing to pricey please. As there is so many options out there and after reading some ratings on amazon I’m really lost. Please help

Happy to help! I tried to break the steps down in this video. Which step are you hung up on?
@marzgtp8 ай бұрын
Well the truck came with no instructions (used) I tried looking up the specs as far as what you were explaining but didn’t understand what the battery C meaning I know it’s a 3S battery. But there is lots of batteries in amazon costing from 25.00 to 100.+ my question was what brand was a decent one to purchase. No worries I’ll keep searching for help. Thank you for your time Sur
@RoadsideRC8 ай бұрын
@@marzgtp Happy to help - just didn't know where you were getting stuck. Even used, you can get the manual straight from the Arrma website. It is handy to download and have! I would suggest starting with this battery: amzn.to/3yZ5KnL Also, I suggest using the 50% or 75% throttle limiter on the controller at first. That will save a LOT of broken parts. These trucks on 3S provide A LOT of power and it is easy for a new person to break more parts that way. Good luck!

Rc noob here....which battery upgrade to get for typhon grom? Just want to extend play time.
@RoadsideRC7 ай бұрын
Same steps apply that are in this video. Tips: 1) if you want to extend run time, then you are looking for a bigger "mah" rating on the pack. This may mean it is physically larger, which is why you need to watch out for the size of your battery tray. 2) the IC2 connector on the factory battery is really limiting. There are A LOT of choices of very quality batteries out there that will perform better than the factory battery. But - you need to be able to solder on a new connector. Good news - soldering is not hard, and SUPER valuable skill to have in this hobby. Follow the steps in the video, and you will be in good shape. Let me know if you have a question about a specific step!

What types of batteries last the longest. Are there any that last longer than 15-20 mins? Or maybe even an hour?
@RoadsideRC10 ай бұрын
The higher the "mah" of the battery, the longer it will last. Measure the battery box dimensions on your vehicle - and compare it to the dimensions of batteries you find. Fitting the biggest mah battery you can get will give you the longest run time.

@@RoadsideRC good! I should add that I’ve also talked to a few people that haven’t had problems as well. It seems like those of us who have had problems it usually happens in the first couple cycles of the battery. So now whenever I see someone with them I try to warn people to keep a close eye on them because one person said they had one start on fire. Glad yours are working well though and hopefully they stay that way. Happy Thanksgiving!

I've had horrible luck with ovonic packs. I mostly ran them in my 6s arrma mojave. They just can't supply the amps to push the big trucks like my CNHLs or Gen Ace packs. (This really shows in their smaller FPV packs) Even running them in my 1/10 scales trucks the run times is only about 60%. I'm 100% confident you get what you pay for when It comes to lipos! Buy nice or buy twice in this hobby 🤣

The C rating (even not considering it is usually fake, even more than the capacity) must be considered with a grain of salt: a battery twice as big (capacity) can have half the C rating of a smaller one and still deliver the same high current capability (Amps), since the C rating is a multiplier of the rated capacity, and not an absolute number. Additionally a bigger battery not only increases the running time, but also the weight, so it decreases the performance. Additional weight is never good, that is why racing cars are as much lightweight as possible.
