Wish this had been available when I built my 72 Camaro... (finished in 2003) Would have done my best to scrape the funding together. However to go back and start over is not feasable... not does it make sense at this stage in life for me. Maybe, whoever buys it, will have the budget and the drive to take it to this next level of performance. Would gladly send pic, but youtube doesn't support such a response. Awesome job GUYS!!!

This is exactly what these old F-Bodies have been needing. The unibody structure and A-frame front end doesn't make for a very solid chassis, especially if you want to build a 600+ hp pro touring sports car from a 2nd Gen Firebird/Camaro line. Looks like I have some saving to do for the system I want on my 78 Firebird Formula. Looking forward to this one.

Well, gang. It's been 3 years. So,.....where's your '70 Trans Am build????? Being a 2nd gen Trans Am owner myself, I'm anxious to see what you've built.
@pontiacexcitement4evrponti9953 жыл бұрын
Why no option to run a true PONTIAC motor under a Firebird. They too can be built to go fast (or faster), than a Chevy motor. Look at what "Big Chief" has proven. Wide port Edelbrocks, Tiger, Ram Air V tunnel ports can flow alot of air, not to mention the billet heads. All I'm asking is it should be an option, even at an extra cost. Aftermarket PONTIAC blocks,forged cranks and better breathing heads have made the PONTIAC V8 a horsepower and torque monster. If u don't want to do that, build a frame for a 4-wheel electric motor 2nd gen F-body so a Firebird Trans Am could live into the 22nd century. Hopefully before the government forces everyone to buy an electric powered vehicle. Thank you for building an "Awesome" frame. P.S. Someone has already built a 1965 or 66 Electric Ford Mustang. Don't u think an 1970 and a half or 1971 PONTIAC TRANS AM more powerful all electric powered car should pull up in the other lane?
@RoadsterShop3 жыл бұрын
We can certainly build mounts as a custom option on these. We just don't get enough demand for the Pontiac powerplants to make them a production item.

You have so many options for the Camaro / Firebird cars , why do you not build a SPEC series chassis for the 68-72 Novas? Only TRAK series? Any reason for that?
@RoadsterShop3 жыл бұрын
The goal of the SPEC series is to simplify installation typically without removing the factory floor. Doing so requires a larger amount of engineering than the Fast Track lineup in order to make that easier install work with the factory floors. Some vehicles it's just not possible to do this - others we haven't had the opportunity to invest the time required to create the SPEC chassis - and others yet are just not great candidates for the SPEC lineup.

its PERFECTION! to bad my project car is a 1978 original turbo regal with Ttops, Schwartz performance has what i want but waaaay to expensive, to the point, I can teach myself to weld and build the frame myself for 20k plus. i can do it on Autodesk fusion 360 and 3D print it in 1/10 scale or 190mm and make whatever tweaks needed before building full scale. this hobby has gotten to expensive, ill build my own.

What tire widths on front and back can do fit without cutting? I am assuming if you put in a 325 rear you will loose the back seats?
@speedmetal71983 жыл бұрын
I am running a P325 in back of my '81 WS6 TA without tubs, & using factory 7.5" x 15" wheels. This was achieved with just a pair of billet, hub-centric spacers. Mine were 13/16", but I'm pretty sure 11/16ths would work a hair better & keep the tires from contacting wheelhouse, or shock tubes/leafsprings.
I'm going to be swapping a 1971 camaro front clip onto my 1980 firebird and was wondering if this full frame would still work on something like that? Still a great looking frame.
