hi, its me again i and will continue doing this "tradition" of mine by saying from time to time thank you Rahdo ! as we all know, especially adults, life is tough and although we are mostly under our happy masks, deep inside we all know that life is very serious and sometimes cruel, and this is honest talking honest it could be, its enough just few minutes of watching Rahdo's videos to make my day and refill my batteries Rahdo's positivity, cheerful spirit and passion is something very very very rare today, its almost only a past so THANK YOU RAHDO !!! love from Serbia ! not Syria or Siberia, its Serbia ! :D (for some folks messing these names in their heads) oh yeah sorry for bad eng, its even worse now since i started learning italian ha ha a presto ! ;)

Depends on where you live, in a police state like the US or Russia life is bad yes, and watching boardgames detracts from that. Boardgamerhino is my fav vlogger.

I just LOVE the artwork on all of Ryan's games!

His art is usually enough to make me buy, so fortunately he also makes great games.

Finally a locket game that does not span 3 tables! The dynamic seems nice because the more persons you found, the less frequent the flipping becomes, so flipping faster by spending coins will be more appealing. It is essentially very abstract, like Santorini, not my favorite game type.

Kosteri x I guess you haven’t heard of Megaland (I believe it is a Target exclusive, so it is a light game with a lot of random luck of the draw elements in it) then!
@kosterix1235 жыл бұрын
@@JJ_TheGreat that's right, never heard of it. Is it another standalone game? Should I check it out? Anyway I backed roam basic. I could always sell it if i find it too abstract.
@JJ_TheGreat5 жыл бұрын
@@kosterix123 It is a standalone game... It depends on what you are looking for. Megaland is a simple push your luck game. It has a supposed video game theme in which you are trying to survive the different levels and end with as much loot as you are able to - really - it is pasted on more than anything. Then use that loot you accumulate to buy and upgrade various buildings in order to have the most money at the end of the game... Really, you are just flipping through a deck of cards - some which could be good things, some bad. Players accumulate loot at the same time, as long as the bad cards do not kill your character and make them lose all of the loot they have gained up to that point in that particular round. But after each card is flipped, each player has to decide whether they want to stay in and push their luck or get out. 2nd: You can use the resources which you had accumulated from the 1st phase to buy some buildings, which give you special abilities, or hearts which let you stay in the 1st phase of the game longer going forward. Artwork and components, like most Ryan Laukat games, are good. Simple enough play. Decent amount of replayability since there are many cards in the deck and a few strategies you can go after. However, it is a family type of game. It is certainly lighter than the games which Richard (Rahdo) enjoys and it is very luck-centric. I hope that helps! 😊

@@JJ_TheGreat yes that did help. Your description reminds me a lot of Celestia. Terrible game. Everybody quit during the 2nd game, and rightly so. Now I feel bad having backed Roam...

Yep! I will back this one, we are big fans of Megaland, primarily because our nephew loves it, and I think he will really enjoy this one too. It's nice to have some games in the collection for the kids in the fam to play with us. Thanks for the Rundown!
@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
yeah, this is definitely a viable family game, i think. and if you add the gem mini expansion, it gets more gamerey :)

The gameplay seems very similar to Mykerinos. I like Ryan Laukat games, but is it different enough to own both?
@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
mykerinos is a much heavier game, and longer. this is a lighter, faster game where the moment to moment decisions are more interesting (tetris shapes are more fun to deal with than single cubes) but it's not quite so heavy with long term consequences. :)
@Caleena19895 жыл бұрын
3:00 Does this really work? Remember, you can't rotate! So she had to choose the right (!) space of each card and therefore counldn't choose the two coins. 4:05 As you said earlier you can't place your cubes on multiple cards.

Gosh , I’m really not feeling this one .. mega land , haven and now this has been huge misses from one of my favorite designer.. with such big hitting ks and limited cash flow this is a pass for along with the two previous mentions ... I was really wishing sleep gods was the one to hit ks .. well I will save my cash for that one . Thanks for the video .. always my fav to watch !

Noahshu Haven was designed by Alf Segert (Ryan did the art). Ryan has always varied between small, quick games like Eight Minute Empire and larger games like Near and Far. Sleeping Gods is on deck.

megaland is definitley aimed at families and super casual gamers. roam is a bit heavier, but it's still on the light side. however, when you add the gem mini-expansion, it does get a bit more gamery, with more opportunity for planning and tension whether you can achieve those plans
@JJ_TheGreat5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Megaland was released at Target - which focuses on light, family games. From what I have heard, there is so much randomness and luck involved in that game.

This plays almost too close to how "Unearth" does... where there are cards on the board that players competitively go for placing dice as workers. Cards equal points, there's other tokens on the cards that help you get extra tool cards to help you as you go. Hmmm....

I dunno, I see a mediocre abstract with a huge disconnect with the (admittedly lovely) art and theme. I can see it playing occasionally on an app or something, but definitely not as something that would engage me and actively draw to play.
@kosterix1235 жыл бұрын
Same here, but the solo might be good. And you can blind your friends with the art. Everdell is also cute but good mechanics.
