Not many locals wander around the neighborhood of Pasil or Duljo Fatima in Mambaling. You are a brave soul indeed exploring the crowded place. I hope the city clears up the narrow streets with vendors. I've set foot in Duljo when I was a kid since it is closeby the Cebu Jai-alai building and the main street in lined with lechon inasal stores.

I like watching Tom's videos. My wife and I used to walk around Cebu, Batangas, and other places. It's always different when my wife is with me. She is Filipino and I'm white. It's much more like Tom's adventures when I'm by myself or with a male of my wives family. Filipino people are some of the best people in the world.

Going to the Philippines over the years…and knowing what I know about other cultures(Arabic/Latin mostly)…I’ve come to realize a big difference in the Filipino “hospitality”. If you go to an Arabic or a Latin country, yes the level of violence is extremely above and beyond that of the Philippines, any hospitality that you will encounter is purely for the sake of sharing something with you. In the Philippines, 100% of the time, the hospitality always comes with “but can you help me po?”. I have to say, this is just my own experience of being a 6’2, 300lb cologne smelling Cuban with tattoos all over his body. Meaning, I attract a different Kind of attention in the Philippines than maybe the average Middle aged Joe. I’m sure that has a lot to do with it. I love the Philippines so much that I CHOSE to have children with a Filipina. Also I always do everything I can to give back to the country. So what I’m saying is purely just to share my experience, and because I hate fake people. So please be careful people, don’t be lulled into a false sense of security because bloggers are always saying how friendly people are. Yea they are friendly, but only because they see you as a walking peso, and as a hopeful future bf/son in law that will elevate their social status. In Latin American/Arabic countries, they would be insulted if you offer them money after they invite you to a meal. I guess that’s better than killing your like they do in Usa/Latin America/Arab countries lol
@deetl2 жыл бұрын
Perception is everything! I think people in general are nice; some just hide their true emotions depending on how they PERCEIVED you to be. As in every culture, there are good things and bad things. As a Filipina, I do feel offended that we are only after the money. My clan always help and offer food to strangers and not expecting anything. That’s how I grew up and when I came to the US, I see the difference. Of course, there will always be opportunists and they are the aggressive ones that overpower the good things that hospitable people do. It’s their noise that is presented in the MSM. Glad that Tom showed that there are generally good people around. That gives us hope for humanity. Good vibes is EVERYTHING!

There's always the good and bad in everyone ..in any culture. I've seen it so we cannot assume the extremes. There are the genuinely good people & there are opportunists everywhere in any country. Then again people will react in kind towards others..if one is haughty or snobbish people will react to that negatively & if you are friendly enough you'll get the good vibes. Live & learn..
