Thank you so much and helping me relive memory of my annual drives to the peninsula! In fact, buying wine from ‘Ten Minutes by Tractor’ and having a cuppa at ‘Merricks General Wine Store’ are must dos annually till the darn pandemic struck. Wishing you a blessed Sunday!

This drive is so breathtaking. I enjoyed alot. My favourite parts are @26:18 and @36:18. Another beautiful part of Metropolitan Melbourne. 👍🙌 I've patiently waited for this. How I wish you have a part two of this (drive all the way back to the city). 😁 Many thanks for this amazing drive mate 👏👏🙂

Glad you enjoyed it 😄 Filmed all the way back to city, but the weather changed to be bit dusty , have to abandon that footage unfortunately 😂 Will do it next time 🤘

Amazing video! Question from a curious Sydneysider: do the locals think of these more as suburbs of Melbourne, or as its own separate region?
@roamingNwatching3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! To your curiosity, at least a big part of people in Sorrento would call themselves Melbournian cause they are actually Melbournian who have holiday houses there :)
@zoomosis3 жыл бұрын
That's a bit of a difficult question to answer. In many respects the southern end of suburban Melbourne ends at Mount Eliza, because after that it's no longer continuous suburbia - there's a "green wedge" between Mount Eliza and Mornington. Mount Eliza is still considered part of the Mornington Peninsula though (as is Frankston). It'd be impractical to commute from somewhere like Sorrento to the Melbourne CBD for work - it's almost 100 km by road and around a two hour commute in peak hour, or three hours by public transport. By most measurements Geelong is closer but isn't considered suburban Melbourne. This also affects how Melbourne's population is calculated. It's thought that Melbourne's population is larger than Sydney's if you include Geelong - similar to how Sydney's population includes the Central Coast.

Lived here all my life. The Peninsula is not a suburb of Melbourne. We have very little reliable public transport and what we do have is not on the metro lines. Suburbia ,and reliable public transport ,stops at Frankston. The Peninsula is more built up along the Port Phillip Bay side (which was filmed in this video) with side by side shops and homes along the Nepean Hwy to take advantage of the coastal views but the rest of the Peninsula is mainly semi rural with small towns, villages, farms and farmlets with rural roads. It is protected by the green wedge which runs down the middle of the Peninsula and restricts certain buildings, businesses and subdivisions of land from being built to keep the semi rural environment.
