My main concern, price aside, would be the maximum torque these things can apply before slipping. Without teeth I assume it works with some kind of mechanism like a drum brake, using friction, so it will surely slip at some point. If it can handle a lot of torque then it's a no-brained upgrade over a regular ratchet. Would love to see a torque wrench version of this too, mine has infuriatingly long distance between clicks which makes it hard to use even with several inches of clearance at the handle end.

This is also my concern. But I’d probably not advise using these by default for all jobs. Only those where there is an extreme space limitation. I’ve broken regular geared ratchets in the past a few times, so wouldn’t want to abuse these. Probably why I can only buy them in 1/4 and 3/8. They don’t seem to do a 1/2 drive or larger version.
