Love your vidz Neil. I always appreciated these guys as hard cases but getting to watch them on your level just adds another factor of appreciation and love of these awesome animals. A couple of days ago I was camped at the kaimanawas all psyched for the next mornings hunt. I found your channel and watched your clips late at night and the cool thing was mate is that those videos put me in a mental space where I didn't go out there next day eagerly searching with a blood thirst, I went out looking to get close up to these neat characters in a chilled out way and that's what happened. First one I called in came charging in to ten metres away. He was just a 6 but sizey and in the mindset I was in, I was totally sweet with just soaking up the amazing site as he went around me in plain site up close. Had I not watched your videos the night before I may have just plastered him. The rest of the day was eventful but no 8's and that's ok, I was more than satisfied. I'm gonna watch this vid again tonight. Thank you for your footage and efforts mate, would so love to learn more about the habits of these guys. Sorry, quick question - have you ever called to visible stags that turned out to not be actively in rutt or feeling super territorial, ie perhaps very late roar and observed whether they bothered to take any notice? I'm curious as to whether doing a call when just stalking has a major downside at these times, ie does it matter a lot? I know it's best to call as little as possible but sometimes it's tempting to test the waters even when it's quiet just incase. Your opinion? Thanks Neil. Erin

Yes have roared at sighted animals many times that have ignored me. In the bush can do no harm by roaring. They come or dont. Into May it is the younger 3/4 yr olds that are active and will readily come for a look.

Fantastic video Neil. Hope you & yours are all good. Trez tines on that one at 18 mins amazing considering the rest of the head. Ovbiously no interbreeding with the one your old mate got. I still have the photo today...it was an amazing stag. Be safe Pete Tilsley
