In the first movie, he mostly sounds like a leopard. In the later two movies, he sounds more like a fierce, majestic beast, and I noticed that growls and roars from leopards and lions are part of the mix as well.

Aslan's CGI ages better because he wasn't made to be photo-realistic. There is no uncanny valley effect with him, he's a highly stylized looking lion and made to look like a character rather than something out of a BBC doc.
