@Nono-pe2wl3 жыл бұрын
I agree, if you do the classic terrazzo and it fits to the era your house is build in then it can look beautiful but the “modern” terrazzo can easily look cheap and tacky.

Sorry, 19th-century Terrazzo? I mean, yeah it's been around for a long time, It's polished aggregate in cement, but stylistically and what the "trend" is calling back to is definitely modern styles-- art deco and midcentury specifically. It's fine that she doesn't like it but it really doesn't seem like she's well informed on it, also it seems like she's blanketly talking about terrazzo while really talking about a specific modern trend-- super-stylized, chunky, and colorful terrazzo and faux terrazzo.
@ioanmorar9303 жыл бұрын
i agree with everything besides the terrazzo trend. Terrazzo is sustainable and brings some texture into your interior space. It will always be in trend if you have money

I come from Slovakia where terrazzo was very popular in the 70s thanks to fading functionalism and start of modern and monumental architecture. Therefore i love this material which was used mainly on the floors from historic reason. I have to say I really enjoy its comeback in our regions, however the stone fractures we use are smaller, not as colorful hence the material looks much more united and classier than what you have shown in your reference photos. I believe it won't be outdated anytime soon, at least in Europe.

Yes, same here in Florida and most of the Caribbean, which is still a desirable, classic material, that ages very well.

I just found you on KZbin and I'm really glad. So refreshing!! And I tend to agree with most, if not all, of your opinions. Looking forward to more.

I do feel bad when I see beautiful MCM furniture that has been painted in such a faddy way. If you want to paint furniture, fine--please paint pieces that are on their last leg, are ugly, are broken, have pieces of veneer stripped off, and so on. I have a piece of furniture I painted. I bought it for $20 at the Goodwill. It is (was) a gun cabinet--now it's a glass-fronted book cabinet.

Exactly paint only what is a very common, run of the mill piece, but not a high quality, high design piece!

I spent weeks repainting two MCM pieces. But they had both been badly painted first. Of one them had the veneer ruined underneath the paint once I got it off. It did take me ages though…hope they aren’t going to go out of fashion in a minute. 🤦♀️

I hate animal heads on walls, even the stuffed toy looking ones or the wooden geometric ones. Also LOL @ Chloe’s face whenever she’s subjected to your aggressive affections!! More shots of Chloe please 😃

The only redeeming value of arches and circles is that it's so much less permanent than most trends and you can always paint over.
