Actually there is quite a lot of research on how Shakespeare might have been gay/bisexual! A great part of his sonnets are classified as the "Fair Youth" sonnets ("Shall I compare thee to a summer's day" is part of these), and the collection was dedicated to a "Mr. W. H.", supposed to be the Earl of Southampton, who would have inspired the poems!
