So a note on the "falling cats," study. As far as im aware, it was a study and not an experiment. They essentially went to a number of cities with large residential buildings, and gathered medical data on cats that had been injured/killed from falling out of windows in the past, and compiled the data based on where the cats had fallen from, and the extent of injury they sustained. IIRC, they might have gotten professional opinions on the injuries to aid in ranking them, but they were mainly concerned with death, major injury, minor injury, and relative lack of harm, and the frequencies of each. So thankfully, scientists werent dropping cats, en mass, out of apartment building windows

@mangaanimefan30892 жыл бұрын
@Squirlis... ehhhh
@official_jack2 жыл бұрын
@Squirlis As a horse owner I can say that they do occasionally do this, but it doesn’t happen extremely frequently. This is because mares are viciously protective of their own foals as well as those of their close companions, and have good memory, so my guess is they may refuse to mate with a stallion who’s killed their foal… but that depends on the mare, and how smart she is. I’m sure mares mate with stallions who killed their foals sometimes, but definitely not as frequently as it does with other animal species. Also, horses usually travel in large groups, called herds. Within those large groups are many small groups (called bands) containing one stallion, a few mares and their foals. If a stallion already has a few mares, there’s a pretty good chance he won’t risk a fight with other stallions and their mares, since these fights are often very bloody. However, sometimes single stallions called bachelors will go out looking for fights and mates, and may attempt to kill a mare’s foal and take her from the stallion she’s with, in order to mate with her and “claim” her as a part of his band. He may also attempt this with mares who are single mothers. Less dominant and aggressive stallions will just fight amongst each other for “unclaimed” mares, to avoid fighting with an already established stallion, since it’s easier.
@redeye45162 жыл бұрын
Apes also do this after killing a rival and taking his women. Humans will do it too, in the distant past it was for the same reasons of denying your enemy his bloodline, while relatively more recent events tended to be royalty or nobles who read Machiavelli's book or US federal hit squads making a few "oopsies" at places like Ruby Ridge or Waco.

Im slavic and vampires actually originate from slavic mythology and they were not how they are shown in media,they were extremely violent and liked to eat flesh and blood and sometimes they would rip off their victim's heads just to get some of that sweet sweet human juice.Oh also vampires were people who died but were either very evil in their life or died by sewerslide and or torture.They rise from their graves in whatever clothes they were buried in to seek food.And how does this have to do with butterflies?Because hollywood used bats because of the existence of vampire bats but originally vampires turned into either butterflies or moths
@kaylawoodbury23082 жыл бұрын
@Rainy Worries They are far from the first or only culture to come up with the idea of a blood/soul sucking monster... Frankly it's stupid to try and claim that a culture was the "first" in regards to anything spiritual, supernatural or religious as all these concepts were invented by their people's in an effort to explain the world around them. It's only natural for cultures experiencing similar phenomenon to end up with similar explanations despite being 1000s of miles or 1000s of years apart, predating cultural exchanged/ international travel. Like Thor and Zeus, the Greeks didn't copy the Norse or vise versa, both cultures were coastal, both experienced heavy storms including lightning, both came up with a deity responsible for those storms to try and make sense of it. It's the same with the concept of vampires, different cultures all over the world had run ins with something unknown to them that was draining blood out of livestock or livestock would just drop dead, to explain it all of these cultures came up with there own vampire like supernatural monsters to be held responsible. The Slavic people aren't special or unique.

Honestly, cheetahs being underdogs just makes me like them even more. Also them being really friendly to people they know and needing support dogs for friends just makes them all the cuter, even if they would try to eat me in real life.

They wouldn't, they are tameable, and were simply inferior to dogs so that's why dogs are man's best friend and not the cheetah.
@TheHillsHaveDragons2 жыл бұрын
Historically. cheetahs were kept as pets for millennia and my personal theory is that all modern cheetahs are feral rather than wild, which is why they so quickly revert to domesticity if they’re exposed to humans too much. They jump in cars and trucks to escape other predators and lead humans to their cubs to babysit while they hunt.

Fun fact about Shoebill storks: Shoebill chicks will often commit siblicide, which means they will murder their sibling. Some birds like the Shoebill will only lay two eggs. One is the more dominant sibling while the other is the runt. The dominant sibling will given more attention while the runt is often given less love and even food. This is mostly to prepare them for their inevitable death. When the mother goes out to hunt or bring water, the dominant sibling will then peck the runt till it can barely move. If it's still alive when the mother comes back, she will kill the chick while it crawls to her for comfort, or just let it slowly die.

@@zehkiel8018 how they do this you ask? Bc the horse community it’s kind of like every other community where there are good and bad people, and the way sellers extract your sanity is mainly the ones who dress up the horse they’re selling to be the perfect little pony, when it turns out it’s actually a hell spawn who had a good day when someone was coming to look at him for purchase. I can guarantee that most if not all people in the horse community have had a problem like this before lmao
@zehkiel80182 жыл бұрын
@@luna_moon3623 I see. That checks out. Animal adoption in general can do that, but most animals you adopt aren't bigger than you and break like twigs. The better question then: why do they extract the sanity of horse buyers? What do they do with it?
