The view of Roatan from the cruise ship was breathtaking. It looked like a lush jungle on a crystal blue sea beach. I literally dreamed about it and had to look up a video to remind myself of it, it was breathtaking. The video doesn't do it justice when you dock at this port, it is gorgeous.

This was one of three stops for our western Caribbean cruise three weeks ago. Being Oriental, a Hondurian woman tried to force us to pay $5/person entry fee. She said everyone tourists had to pay for leaving the port. However, she targeted no one but us. The third party tours played us too. They charged us $40/person and had a non-English speaking driver for us. I he did was drive us to Mayan Eden then afterwards to West Bay beach. There they wanted $20/person to hangout at the beach. We said “NO” and the owner got mad. The driver drove us back to ship. For a party of ten, they got $400 from us.

I had to tender at that port. Due to a hurricane some ships had their itineraries changed so there were more ships there than should have been... sovthere was no room for my ship at the dock. But, since they don't actually HAVE tenders there... we had to ride the ship's lifeboats to shore.

Hi...I am going to this port and to the Coasta Maya port...on our cruise in August 2021.. and watched your great video, thank you for all of the good information! I was confused by your visa trouble story, however. On your Coasta Maya video, you mentioned that you did not have the pin numbers for your Visa credit cards and that this caused you to not be able to use them. I have never used a pin number with a credit card ever...do not know them either. Normally, with a credit card, you do not need a pin code, only to sign the payslip. Is this different there? Thanks for the info! - Julie

I am going Thanksgiving week on the Carnival Vista. This looks great! I am in an electric wheelchair. I can walk short distances with a walker with I will have with me. I booked an excursion. Is the area where I meet my tour fairly close? If I get off in the wheelchair do you think I could pay one of the kiosks to park it until I get back? Thank you for your input.
@TravelingFlamingo5 жыл бұрын
From the ship, its about 90m to where you meet your cruise excursions. Here is a map with the distances, imgur.com/TzONiLg if that helps. You could probably ask the vendors to store the wheelchair but I think that would depend on how comfortable you are with it. There is also plenty of seating for the restaurant that you could stop at as well.

Beware: we made and paid in full a reservation ahead of time to go on an all inclusive tour that included a tour of the island, lunch, full open bar, water, sodas, private cabana- we were suppose to meet "Charlie" after we got off the ship and just right outside the port. Let me tell you that was so chaotic and crazy- literally dozens or more of the drivers/tour guides holding up signs yelling out passenger names. Our Charlie was suppose to be our there...we asked some of the other drivers- if they knew "Charlie"...none of them said they knew Charlie. Then out of the crowd appeared a man named "Charlie"..he took out all over the island, to the beach we were supposed to go to , but they wouldn't let us in and kept giving us dirty looks and were yelling at Charlie. What it boiled down to it....our tour guide was NOT Charlie...we ended up going to a less than desirable beach, which we had to pay for, as well as the drinks- remember all of this was supposed to be included. We were swindled...so beware.
